Recently attended the Dev Talks organized by Vancouver.dev and it was truly exceptional, thanks to the expert curation by Toki Hossain. The array of speakers seamlessly delivered captivating insights, each presentation a beacon of profound knowledge and thought-provoking perspectives. Qingyue(Annie) Wang shared invaluable tips on enhancing networking skills underscored the importance of transferable skills, especially in the context of transitioning into big tech. Her insights provided a strategic edge, emphasizing the broader impact of skill development in navigating the evolving landscape of the tech industry. Adam Berg’s insightful narrative about transitioning from a software developer at EA to entrepreneurship resonated deeply with me, particularly as FIFA holds a special place as my personal favorite game. Meeting someone behind the storyline transition was truly fulfilling and added an extra layer of inspiration to his already captivating journey. Sam Huo’s exploration of cloud computing, especially focusing on Azure, provided invaluable knowledge, expanding our understanding of this fascinating realm. Equally, Yang Su’s session, shedding light on the profound significance of writing effective tests in software development, was truly enlightening. Gratitude for the depth of understanding imparted, contributing significantly to our professional growth. Special recognition goes to Liana Mostafa for flawlessly hosting the event and ensuring a smooth flow of the sessions. Expressing deep gratitude to Vancouver.dev and Toki Hossain for orchestrating this enlightening event. cofinitive Founder | InspiringFifty 2024 Winner 🚀| Cambridge Tech Podcast Co-Host 🎙 | Creator of #21toWatch | Board Director Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce |
I was up with the larks this morning following up on the myriad of conversations from last week. After the Cambridge Tech Week launch, LinkedIn was awash with posts and it reminded me how pants (technical term for rubbish) I am at writing my own posts. I have good intentions but then I end up just interacting with and sharing everyone else’s posts instead (which TBH is the point of ‘social’ media isn’t it!?). However, after such a cracking week, I thought I’d share a few highlights and plans with you all as the new week starts. 📰 Thrilled to pick up a copy of iQ business magazine with Peter Cowley (he/him) as the cover story – excellent work from our Carole Aye Maung 📚 Heard Dougal Shaw speak at the Cambridge Network 'CEO Secrets' event – his words were music to my ears talking about story-telling and authenticity 🎉 Attended Andy Neely’s ‘leaving party’ which was the perfect representation of the #Cambridge community over his tenure 👩💻 Then it was the #CamTechWeek launch in Cambridge and it was buzzing. I can't wait for the programme to be released, and for my tech contacts outside of Cambridge and indeed outside of the UK – come and see what this global tech hub has to offer. Two activities I am personally involved in (so far!) are 1. Lead Partner for the #InnovationAlley where cofinitive/ #21toWatch will help to develop and deliver an amazing innovation showcase adding some serious ‘sparkle’ to proceedings. And, 2. With Cambridge Tech Podcast who is the Official Podcast Partner starting the coverage with the launch event in both Cambridge and London. 🎙 I finished off the week literally crying my mascara off with James Parton as we recorded #CamTechPod My last comment is about people. I can’t possibly tag in everyone I connected and re-connected with last week, but the truth is that we all succeed because of the relationships we have. Simon Fryer wrote in one of his posts that I am 'indomitable' (I think Paul Brackley said that too at last years #SciTechAwards?). I’m happy with that because I, and my team, have absolute passion for what we do. That’s why I’ve run a cofinitive comms clinic every month for the last seven years helping hundreds of tech entrepreneurs and startups get off the ground, and people trust my honest and experienced advice. So what does this week hold. I’m just about to hot-foot it across Cambridge for a client interview for Bloomberg’s Daybreak programme, multiple client meetings, a board meeting, a tech press run, drafting 2 new client press releases, finishing the branding strategy and asset development for a big regional event, briefing the #21toWatch Top21.2024 winners ahead of the event on 7th March, gosh, who knows what else as it’s still early doors! But what I can say, is it’ll be busy, interesting and fulfilling! Are you up with the larks? What were your highlights from last week? And what are you looking forward to this week? Don't leave me hanging 😁

Embarking on a rewind through Univest's remarkable 2023 journey, each month tells a story of triumphs and milestones. March witnessed the grand launch of Univest Elite, a testament to our commitment to innovation and excellence. As the mid-year sun warmed June, the recognition as a thought leader by WebEngage added another feather to our cap, affirming our influence in shaping industry perspectives. July continued to be a month of accolades, as Dainik Jagran acknowledged us as a thought leader, underscoring our impact on diverse platforms. Univest PRO took center stage in July, marking a pivotal moment in providing enhanced services to our community. Positive cash flow in August brought financial stability, setting the stage for further growth. October saw the introduction of Pro Plus, expanding our offerings to meet evolving needs. November brought the prestigious acknowledgment of being among the top 30 startups to watch in 2023 by INC42, a recognition of our dedication and impact. The grand finale in December celebrated the achievement of Mission December, a testament to the hard work, dedication, and vision that defined our year. Adding another feather to our financial cap, by December, we achieved a remarkable EBITA of 1 Cr monthly, further solidifying our financial prowess. It's no surprise that the total sum attracted by European #tech #startups in 2023 is expected to be 39% down on 2022, according to a review by Sifted. Here are some of the other key numbers based on activity in the year to date: ☑ The big winner has been climate tech, which accounted for 27% of all capital invested in European tech to date in 2023 (more than double the share in 2021). In fact, 2023's four biggest rounds were all climate infrastructure deals ☑The biggest losers look like the enterprise #SaaS sector (raising around half the funding it did in 2022) and #Fintech (around a third of last year) ☑AI has obviously generated huge interest. An estimated $10.2bn went to European companies with some level of #AI tech stack in 2023 (in the US it was $37bn). ☑The UK appears to be on track to retain its position as the best tech scene in Europe with 17.7bn raised ☑Only five new unicorns were minted in Europe this year (i.e. reached a $1bn valuation). It was 48 in 2022! https://lnkd.in/eWYvQUdr
