I recently finished reading Clay Scroggins' book, "How to Lead When You're Not in Charge." It offered valuable insights on effective leaders without relying on formal authority. Here are my top four takeaways: A. Influence Over Authority: True leadership is about positively influencing others, regardless of your title. B. Self-Leadership: Great leaders start by leading themselves, focusing on self-awareness and strong values. C. Serve Others: Effective leadership involves prioritizing your team’s success and fostering a supportive environment. D. Clear Communication: Influencing others requires clear and persuasive communication tailored to your audience. This book has given me a fresh perspective on leadership. It highlights that real influence comes from character and actions, not just positions of power.

How to Win Friends and Influence People ------ Here's the original post: In 1936, Dale Carnegie wrote "How to Win Friends and Influence People." By 2011, it was already considered one of the 100 most influential books ever. Why? In a word: Leadership. Leadership, as Carnegie showcased, isn't merely about holding a position of power or having a title. It’s about connecting with people on a deeper level. Every leader should read it at least once, IMO. Here's a guide with the principles mentioned in the book:

Leadership lore often extols the virtues of drive, invention, and innovation--all important, of course. And then there's this. I always come back to this. 🩷 From Charlie Mackesy's book, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse. Leaders: this one is worth picking up and keeping on your bookshelf. Creating strong and effective teams requires many of the insights and lessons found in this book.

"Inspiration and Leadership are inseparable; if you cannot inspire your team to achieve greatness or inspire a group of people to follow your vision by words and actions, you're not a leader. You're an average manager at best. Inspirational leaders don't accept "the way life is," and they are often uncomfortable if they do not live their purpose and share it with the world. - Gifford Thomas, The Inspirational Leader There is so much to unpack in this passage from the book. The words influence and impact come to my mind as well. But, for sure, having a vision is critical and then being able to cast that vision and then inspire others to follow it with you is critical. Another great book for a leader's library. Have an inspiring day everyone. https://a.co/d/f1fkIdJ
