Building and leading top-tier teams, designing efficient processes, delivering incredible candidate experiences, and recruiting talent for every discipline within the organization. Sounds like a full plate, doesn't it? But for me, it was just the warm-up. After calling it a wrap in the corporate world I found myself at a crossroads, contemplating what I wanted to do when I "grew up". The decision was clear as day - continue doing what I love - working with amazing companies to recruit top-tier talent and drive innovation. But this time, not just engineers developing integrated circuits for consumer electronics. I can't quite put my finger on why I like it, but I do. Octopus Energy's speculative job ad, not sure a line on their recruitment page: 'Can't find anything that suits you? Please send us over your profile and tell us a bit more about you and what you're interested in...' Maybe it's just that it's positive movement. In previous roles I've pushed away from reactive recruitment as in large organisations the processes can take a long time, to a more proactive stance - create the external network of new blood, promoting the team so that when a role does come up, you have an audience primed and sometimes, known expertise to bring in. If you promote your team, your work externally you won't have to look so far and wide for new hires. I'm hearing a lot of positivity about 2024 for the design job market so now is the time to start proactively priming your opportunities to hire. #recruitment #design #newhires #designgrowth2024

There are many factors that will influence this stat, however the #1 reason I hear as a recruiter = Career Advancement. After a couple of years in a particular role, candidates naturally look for promotions, higher responsibilities, or positions that align better with their long-term career goals. If your current company is not able or willing to provide progression, there is often another company out there that will! I see many candidates progress quicker in their careers by moving companies every 2-3 years than the "loyal" employees that stick around with the same company for 5 years waiting on the day that their "promised" promotion finally comes through.
