People Trust Nurses...Nursing is consistently rated as one of the most trusted professions in public polls. 4. 60% of Nurses work in hospitals. Followed by 18% in Ambulatory care 7% in Nursing Homes or Residential Facilities, 5% Government, 3% Educational Services 5. Bellevue Hospital School of Nursing was the first Nursing School in the United States. It opened in 1873 and offered a one year program based on the teachings of Florence Nightingale.
