🌑 The Space Bricks Have Landed! 🌑 Inspired by LEGO, European Space Agency - ESA scientists have used dust from a meteorite to 3D-print 'space bricks' to test these ideas. These space bricks are on display in selected #LEGO stores from 20 June to 20 September, aiming to inspire the next generation of space engineers. ESA scientists tackled the challenge of limited lunar regolith on Earth by grinding up a 4.5-billion-year-old meteorite to create their own version. This dust was then used to 3D-print LEGO-style space bricks. The beauty of these space bricks lies in their flexibility and modularity, similar to regular LEGO bricks but in a stylish space grey. This allows scientists to build and test various structures, fostering creativity and innovation. As ESA Science Officer Aidan Cowley stated, "It was both fun and useful in scientifically understanding the boundaries of these techniques." This initiative not only advances scientific research but also aims to inspire young minds. Emmet Fletcher, Head of ESA's Branding and Partnerships Office, emphasized, "ESA's space bricks are a great way to show young people how play and the power of imagination play a crucial role in space science." the LEGO Group 𝐚𝐧𝐝 European Space Agency - ESA 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭 the LEGO Group company together with the European Space Agency - ESA presented unique bricks, which are made of meteorite dust. The material was found in space. ESA scientists created a special lunar regolith by crushing an old meteorite to get the necessary material. The dust from it was used to 3D print the bricks, which connect to each other just like regular Lego pieces. Experts emphasize that using already existing lunar materials can significantly save resources and effort that are usually required to deliver construction materials from Earth to the Moon. Scientists around the world are looking for options to create materials directly in space. Mass warps spacetime, causing nearby objects to follow curved paths (geodesics). This curvature creates an apparent roundness when viewed from afar. The Earth's massive bulk distorts spacetime around it, making its surface appear spherical or rounded. Our reality exists within a four-dimensional framework (3D space 1D time). This means that we inhabit a single plane, but with an additional dimension of time. Think of it like a canvas with multiple layers: each layer represents a different moment in time. Our everyday experience is confined to one such layer, while the fabric of spacetime allows for movement and interaction between these temporal planes. The Earth's apparent roundness can be seen as a manifestation caused by the curvature of spacetime around our planet which is mirrored in its spherical shape. In conclusion, we inhabit one plane within the four-dimensional framework. The cause of the Earth's appearance from distance being rounded lies not only in mass warping spacetime but also in the harmonious balance between geometric and dimensional aspects of reality. The Earth is both flat and round, it's dependent on perspective.

MISSION MARS 2030: The New Architectural Challenge of 2024 NASA is planning missions to Mars in the early to mid 2030s, so it’s not too soon to be thinking about what life on Mars would look like. Early architecture will most likely be utilitarian and made from what sparse materials may be brought to the planet combined with 3D printing utilizing natural resources found on the planet. But in time, larger space stations are sure to be built with landing and launching pads and facilities for exploration and research. Eventually, people will be living on Mars and will need to have some earthly comforts and aesthetics. So the challenge posed here is to imagine architecture on Mars: space stations, research facilities, group housing, individual family homes, or whatever other dwellings you may think of. Ar. From childhood, physics has enthralled me, a passion deepened over years of conversations with my dad, a former mathematics and physics professor. Upon learning about the NASA Capstone Project, I seized the opportunity to meld my innate love for physics with my design skills, honed through countless hours spent crafting architectural designs of homes and spaceships, both digitally and with hand-drawings. Notably, my childhood memories are filled with the creation of intricate Lego designs. The NASA Capstone Project's aim was to conceive an airless tire suitable for the Mars NASA Rover. My initial task was discerning the potential terrains the rover might navigate and the obstacles it could face, like sand, rocks, and varied surfaces. Considering the partial unknowns of the Martian terrain, I realized my design needed to address these uncertainties. My dad has always encouraged my natural inclination towards original thinking, driving me to seek unique solutions to presented challenges. With this ethos, I envisioned the tire traversing Mars, confronting elements like soft sand, slippery terrains, and rocks that might affect the tire's grip. My design not only accounted for these challenges but also incorporated a 360-degree rotational capability for each tire. This feature ensured the rover's adaptability across multiple terrains without compromising its driving stability. The tire's proprietary design provides optimal grip, whether rolling over sandy surfaces, rocky terrains, or when the tire's grip is compromised by unforeseen obstacles. The design process involved alternating between detailed segment views and overall perspectives and from side view to top view. Engaging in such a method revealed a progression from foundational concepts to pivotal discoveries. Although the process was replete with brainstorming and constant refinement, the inherent challenges invigorated me. Navigating the initial chaos, whittling down ideas, and constantly re-assessing the solutions highlighted the beauty of the invention process.
