⚡ Today, EUASE and its members had a productive meeting with Mr. Adam Romanowski and Mr. Dino Toljan from Cabinet VP Šefčovič to discuss #energyefficiency in alignment with the policy asks outlined in our Manifesto, as well as the implementation and funding of the #GreenDeal. During the meeting, it was emphasized that to maintain the EU’s leadership in energy efficiency, the EE1st principle should be on top of our political agenda and serve as the primary driver for achieving the 2040 and 2050 goals. Energy efficiency not only is key for EU climate goals but also for our Union’s competitiveness. 🔝Another highlight is that a systemic approach to the energy system is essential, with a focus on sector integration while prioritizing energy efficiency at every step. This involves leveraging public and private financing and allocating available funding to energy efficiency. 🤝 EUASE’s industry members are ready to take action and support the implementation of the legislative framework of the European #GreenDeal and working on further cooperation with policy makers from EU institutions and Member States.

🟢 #Energyefficiency is central to the energy transition and clean-tech revolution. It is an ecosystem that needs to be recognized by the European Commission as a driver for growth, job creation and innovation in #Europe as well as essential to increase EU #competitiveness. Nikolaus J. Kurmayer was inspired by session III at European Energy Efficiency Day 2023 and wrote this piece about it. A very useful contribution ahead of the Net Zero Industry Act (#NZIA) vote in European Parliament on 25 October and food for thought in view of a longer term advocacy effort to convince DG GROW that energy efficiency must become one of the industrial ecosystems recognised in the EU industrial strategy. 🤝 Today, the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy met and held a structured dialogue with Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal, Maroš Šefčovič focusing on the main achievements of the current EU institutions and the challenges for the next. ➡Šefčovič outlined 5 key priorities for the next mandate, including the need for full implementation of the agreed legislation across all member states and reducing energy bills for household and industry via energy autonomy, among others. ➡ On the topic of implementation, Member of Parliament Niels Fuglsang shared concerns that as they stand now, the contributions presented by Member States would not be enough to achieve the EU 2030 energy efficiency target of 11.7% set by the #EED. He therefore asked the Commission to be strict and follow-up. We welcome and echo these statements, as the implementation of frameworks such as the #EED, particularly via fully compliant NECPs, is essential to achieving Europe's energy security and climate objectives. 👏

“With the two decisions adopted on May 30, 2024, the #EuropeanCouncil of the #EuropeanUnion gave the final green light for the European Union and #Euratom to leave the #EnergyCharterTreaty; at the same time, remaining member states will be able to support its modernisation when voted during the next #EnergyCharterConference. These decisions are linked as they form the two pillars of a #politicalcompromise known as the #Belgianroadmap for the Energy Charter Treaty.” — Tinne Van der Straeten, the Belgian Minister for Energy https://lnkd.in/gGgnTPJG
