The recent call to triple clean #energy capacity to 11,000 GW by 2030 highlights the need for strong community support in combating climate change. The "Just Energy Transition" emphasizes innovation, equitable access to energy, and community engagement as key. This transformation can only be successful through a concerted effort from businesses, governments, and communities. It’s essential that we work together to ensure that this transition is inclusive and leaves no one behind. https://lnkd.in/g-zJAG-v 🌍 #EnergyTransition

On 15 February, the European Commission launched an online #citizen engagement platform, offering every EU citizen the opportunity to #share their views on a range of subjects. The first topic on the agenda? #Energy #efficiency. Participants will discuss concrete ways in which everyone - from individuals to public authorities, industry and the private sector - can become more energy-efficient, with the greatest possible impact on the #climate, the #economy, #employment, #health and our energy #bills. The debates held on this platform will feed into the reflections of a panel of 150 European citizens, who will then formulate a series of recommendations that will be forwarded to the European Commission, thereby influencing the EU's energy policies. The very first 2024 European Citizens' Panel kicks off on this 𝟐𝟑 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝟐.𝟑𝟎𝐩𝐦. 👉 Citizens' Engagement Platform - European Commission (europa.eu) And you, what's your idea for energy efficiency?

What has occurred in Germany should increase the discussion on cost to achieve New York’s climate objectives. Understanding cost to achieve is not meant to create fear, but to ensure all solutions, including non-traditional regulatory approaches, along with innovation, are considered for higher probability penetration towards set goals. Using tag lines like “climate solutions will result in affordable energy” is misleading in that utility rates, fuel, taxes and other subsidies are on the rise. Regardless of how we characterize these costs; who pays is the easiest question to answer; look in the mirror. Energy policy and sound business principles can co-exist; let’s learn from the lessons of others.

📅 With the general election just weeks away, join us for an insightful webinar titled "The Future of Decarbonisation: Examining Party Pledges." 🗳️ Chaired by CEO of Chamber and former MP for Bath, Ben Howlett, this event will delve into the heart of UK politics and the future of net zero. We'll dissect the manifesto commitments of the major political parties on decarbonisation and the environment: 🔹 Conservatives: Pledging to boost renewable energy investments and achieve net zero by 2050, but with concerns over their concrete plans to reduce emissions. 🔹 Labour: Committing to significant green infrastructure projects, aiming for a net-zero power system by 2030, and creating millions of green jobs. 🔹 Liberal Democrats: Proposing ambitious climate action plans, including cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 75% by 2030 and investing in sustainable transport. Don't miss this chance to explore what the next Government’s policies on decarbonisation are likely to look like! 🌍✨ 📅 Date: 27/06/24 🕒 Time: 12:30 - 13:30 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eN_M_3dr #Decarbonisation #NetZero #GeneralElection2024 #UKPolitics #ClimateAction #Webinar

Implementing a national Carbon Credit scheme (without looking to the rest of the world) puts the UK's economy at risk ⚠ It would merely shift emissions elsewhere, rather than reducing them globally 🌎 In my latest video, part of our 'energy transition spotlights' series, I discuss the approach we should take in the UK, to make sure we tackle the real challenge: reducing emissions 👉 https://lnkd.in/eqi3HibE #CarbonEmissions #EmissionsTrading #ClimateAction #Decarbonisation #WBDEnergyTransition
