Responsabile tecnologia presso SACMI | Membro del Consiglio di indirizzo dei corsi di Laurea Magistrale in Chimica Industriale dell’Università di Bologna e di Genova e Membro del Consiglio Direttivo di AIM
𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬, 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐮𝐩 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬! This is very much the case with the #OPERCBI project (Challenge Based Innovation by Almacube ), in which SACMI has, since October 2023, been working alongside students to explore #openinnovation. What’s it all about? Almacube selected six students in their first year of technical and humanistic master's degree courses and we’ve given them the opportunity to ‘show what they’re made of’. All volunteers, these students have a broad range of multi-disciplinary skills. We’re not looking for specific answers to a specific problem: we’re probing for an enabling technology that might be applicable within the different SACMI business units. SACMI works in numerous fields, but powder molding/forming processes are common to all the BUs (Tiles, Advanced Materials, Rigid Packaging) and the students will be investigating them using open innovation methods developed by OPER.CBI. Results will be shared over the coming two months in a sequence of steps and weekly work groups held at SACMI, involving both the students and the teams responsible for the different projects/businesses. The goal is to pool the feedback and make it usable for everyone. But that’s not all. The SACMI team and the six students will have the opportunity to take part in two ‘collision weeks’ organized at CERN in Geneva where they’ll meet the IdeaSquare - the innovation space at CERN scientists. Prospects include the in-depth study - right at the heart of European particle physics - of new AI tools, which could lead to immediate tangible advantages. For us it’s a great opportunity to explore the world of industry and collaborative innovation more closely, a world SACMI has been involved in for years alongside key academic and research institutions in Italy and abroad. We are looking back at a great #BuTa2024! A big Thank you to Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and Technische Universität München for hosting this year’s KoWi annual conference. We’re happy to announce that we have been invited by Leibniz Universität Hannover and Niedersachsen for our conference next year. 🇪🇺 Today we had two interesting panel discussions on the agenda: 👉 "To prompt or not to prompt? - AI on the horizon!" The panel discussed the impact of AI on the field of research management, what research managers need to learn and who is going to teach them. Dr. Barbara Haselsteiner-Zach, Thomas Mirow, Dr. Christian M. Stracke 👉 "Research with perspective - what do the European Charter, HRS4R and ResearchComp do for the career development of researchers?" The European Competence Framework for Researchers #ReseachComp is a great tool for self assessment and reflection of competences as part of the measures to empower research careers. Dr. Birte Ahrens, Felix Beckendorf, Dr. Neele Meyer At our infotables, participants had the opportunity to learn more about knowledge valorisation, FHnet, DAAD Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, European Research Council (ERC), KoWi mentoring and KoWi services. 📚

Excited to share my recent experience at the 36th AESOP - Association of European Schools of Planning Congress in Paris, France. On July 11th, I had the honor of presenting my work titled "A Rapid Response Algorithm: Parametric Design for Temporary Housing Areas" in the AI - morphology section of the networks and data track. In already complex cities, sudden stresses such as disasters and major projects increase the complexity of the city and make decision making even more challenging. My research introduces a generative algorithm to provide a solution for one of these high-pressure scenarios: the rapid and efficient creation of temporary housing areas post-disaster. This solution aims to streamline decision-making during high-pressure times, providing a parametric design approach to quickly and efficiently create temporary housing solutions. I'm thrilled to have shared this work with the planning community and look forward to further discussions and collaborations on this vital topic. A big thank you to the organizers and all the participants for their efforts! #AESOP2024 #SciencePo #complexity #parametricdesign #disasters #AI #optimization
