An Official Supporter of the #Paris2024 Olympic & Paralympic Games We are proud to share Philippe Wahl, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of La Poste Groupe, and Tony Estanguet, President of Paris 2024 - Comité d'organisation des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de 2024 have signed a partnership agreement conferring on La Poste and Geopost the status of "Official Supporter" for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Shared values   The Olympic and Paralympic Games strongly support the values and benefits of sport. We identify with them, and as such La Poste encourages all postal workers to take part in sporting activities and has also promoted high-level sportsmen and women since 1984 who have won more than 100 medals. The Olympic and Paralympic Games for the environment, universality and sustainability The Olympic and Paralympic Games aim to bequeath a positive impact of sport on society. In accordance, we aim to achieve zero net emissions by 2040, having a positive impact on our environment. DO YOU KNOW? The Olympic flag, bearing the now iconic symbol of five interlocking rings, was first flown in Olympic Games in 1920 during the Antwerp Games in Belgium. The rings represent the five inhabited continents of the world—Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania—and are set on a white background, symbolizing peace and unity. The colors of the rings—blue, yellow, black, green, and red—were chosen because at least one of them appears on the flag of every nation. This flag was designed by Baron Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games, and it aimed to express the global reach of the Olympic movement, promoting the idea of universality among all participating nations. Over the years, the Olympic flag has taken on deep symbolic significance, embodying the values and aspirations of the Olympic charter. When athletes from countries without a national flag or currently under sanctions compete, they do so under the Olympic flag as independent athletes, highlighting its role as a unifier. The flag's presence in every Olympic stadium since 1920 serves as a constant reminder of the sport's ability to bridge diverse cultures and foster a spirit of global fellowship. This enduring symbol continues to inspire athletes and spectators alike, reinforcing the ideals of fairness, ambition, and global cooperation at the heart of the Olympic ethos. But really, even 999 of those colorful thingies floating, rattling and humming across Zooropa would HOLD NOTHING next to: 5 rings, 17 days, 329 sport events, 10,500 athletes from 206 Nations, 15 million cheering fans, Billions watching from any corner with a TV, YouTube, or Tik Tok. #PickYourTech … And 73 refugees competing on behalf of the purest form of the human spirit. These ingredients will mean everything- and nothing- once THE FLAME glows over Paris as we witness the latest edition of a most universal encounter. This will be everything but a “Cheap Trick”. Before wokey naysayers (rarest breed in the wonderfully enigmatic country that is France 😜) move to “cancel” it with accusations of being an “egregious show of financial waste”, warn of logistical chaos & mayhem, or throw shade on it as “rich-country hubris only fit for geopolitical size queens”, let’s consider the potential of the PARIS 2024 OLYMPIC GAMES to: • Inspire an entire new generation born this side of Y2K, •Create opportunities for athletes, small businesses and communities in France, and • Leave a positive, lasting mark on humanity’s collective consciousness. What a veritable obligation for PEOPLE and BRANDS involved to honor this opportunity by doing our jobs while staying true to the Olympic Games founding principles of Excellence, Respect, and Amity. Approx 4,400 Para athletes from around the world will gather in Paris to compete in 549 medal events across 22 sports over 11 days of competition. A record number of National Paralympic Committees are expected to participate, resulting in increased diversity, improved gender parity and stronger talent depth. YES! The Paris 2024 mascot, for the first time, will include a mascot with a disability, courtesy of a running blade. Both the Olympic and Paralympic Phryges are based on an item of clothing representative of freedom for France. COOL.
