📩 We submitted our response to the European Commission's public consultation on the greening of corporate fleets: https://lnkd.in/eZHTgFwC.. 🚗 ⚡60% of cars sold in Europe are company cars, and these vehicles drive twice as much as privately owned ones: electrifying corporate fleets is therefore essential for cutting transport-related greenhouse gas emissions in the EU! Electrifying corporate fleets offers numerous strategic benefits for the European Union: - 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: electrifying corporate fleets will drive predictable investments and smooth development of both charging and supporting grid infrastructure, it will promote the advancement of digital solutions like smart and bi-directional charging at scale and accelerate the overall switch to EVs. - 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗩 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁: greening corporate fleets legislation will foster a robust and expanded secondhand market for EVs which will make them accessible to a broader population. - 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: by transitioning corporate fleets to EVs, European manufacturers will be incentivised to offer more affordable and advanced EV models to meet strong market demand. - 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: an EU-wide legislation will standardise national measures and address current divergences that hinder the consistency of incentives for the greening of corporate fleets across Member States. - 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: advancing corporate fleet electrification is relatively straightforward due to companies’ structured operational patterns and centralised decision-making, which is an ideal starting point for accelerating the adoption of clean transport solutions. 📢 We call on the European Commission to swiftly propose legislation in the new mandate that establishes ambitious targets for transitioning corporate fleets to zero-emissions. In response to our open letter urging the Commission to take decisive action on the pivotal aspect of #corporatefleet, Magda KOPCZYŃSKA, Director-General at DG MOVE, has affirmed that "[the Commission is] now in the process of planning an open public consultation in the coming months." However, as Frank Jacobs aptly questions, "will it?" The mandate for the electrification of corporate fleets represents the easily attainable goal in the transition to clean transport. By compelling large corporations to shoulder the initial costs of electrification, this mandate would swiftly generate a secondary market, consequently rendering #EVs more economically accessible for all. ➡️ Tag policymakers, share your support for the electrification mandate, and let's hold them accountable. #DemandAction https://lnkd.in/e2hRf_6N

Exciting news for sustainable transport! 🚚🌍 MAN, part of the Traton Group, and E.ON are collaborating to set up 170 electric truck recharging stations across Europe, introducing 400 charging points. This bold initiative aims to address the critical lack of charging infrastructure, a major hurdle in the shift to greener transport. By the end of 2025, the first 80 stations will be operational across Germany, Austria, the UK, Denmark, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. These stations, equipped with 400 kW chargers, will allow trucks to recharge up to 300 kilometers in about 45 minutes. This is a leap forward in achieving the European Union's goal to reduce CO2 emissions from heavy commercial vehicles by 65% by 2035. Your thoughts matter! How do you think such initiatives will impact the future of road transport in Europe? Call for submissions- Green Mobility Magazine Issue III - "ELECTRIC"! The Green Mobility Magazine team at Ibex Publishing calls on all sustainable transport stakeholders, including transport operators, policy specialists, OEMs, researchers, and more, to provide their thoughts on electric mobility in the 2024 issue of the Green Mobility Magazine! About Issue III: Following the successful launch of the first two issues of the Green Mobility Magazine, Ibex Publishing is delighted to announce the theme for Issue III -“electric”! Indeed, for more than a decade, policy makers and OEMs have pointed to electric-powered transportation as the future of clean and green mobility. However, whilst electric vehicles may work on the road, some sectors, such as aviation and maritime, cannot be commercially operated with battery-powered electric propulsion today. Similarly, although electric cars already make up nearly 18% of new vehicle registrations in Europe (EEA), debates continue over whether our primary energy mix negates any environmental gains; whether our infrastructure is sufficient to support the growth of electric vehicles; and whether Power-to-X is better suited for heavy goods vehicles, unelectrified rails, and other hard-to-abate forms of transport. The above questions are only the tip of the iceberg, and the Green Mobility Magazine team at Ibex Publishing calls on all sustainable transport stakeholders, including transport operators, policy specialists, OEMs, researchers, and more, to provide their thoughts on electric mobility in the 2024 issue of the Green Mobility Magazine. Should you be interested in contributing to Issue III of the Green Mobility Magazine, please feel free to contact Ibex Publishing and we can discuss a potential article, interview, or other form of contribution. A great, quick read on the future of buses in Europe by UITP. By 2027, 52% of Europe's bus fleet will be clean energy, rising to 70% by 2030. But as the article points out, battery electric buses are only as sustainable as the energy that powers them! So leveraging green energy whenever it's available is paramount. And that's exactly what Bia is helping major bus operators across Europe do today. #zeroemissionbus #sustainabletransport #evcharging https://lnkd.in/eRKb5bM6
