Happy World Book Day! 📚 As someone who loves to unwind with a good book, I can't help but share my passion for reading. There's something truly magical about getting lost in a great story after a long day. On evenings when I need to relax, I like to curl up with a book and diffuse some calming frankincense essential oil. It's the perfect way to unwind and create a peaceful atmosphere. 🌟🌿 Recently, I finished reading "The Lost Bookshop" by Evie Woods, it was a lovely read - captivating until the very end. 📖 Now, I'm on the lookout for my next literary adventure and would love to hear your recommendations! When it comes to choosing a new book, I always look for recommendations from fellow book lovers, especially from the lovely ladies in my book club. There's something special about discovering hidden gems and diving into a story that transports you to another world. Whether it's a thrilling mystery, a heartwarming romance, or an inspiring memoir, I'm always open to exploring new genres and authors. Let's keep the conversation going and spread the love for reading on this World Book Day! 💕 What books have you been enjoying lately? A door leading to…….? What is it, Jack? Is it Narnia? Middle Earth? Or maybe Oz? Doors like this may lead to another world or another dimension. It stimulates the imagination and then ANYTHING is possible. Even a BOOK. For when you enter the world of imagination – your inner world – you will come upon stories that lie waiting there for you. The door to your subconscious is the most important door a writer can go through. There memories and imagination come together to create something new, something special. Something exclusively YOU. So, TAKE that step, it will bring you so much more than the world of daily life. And if you need some guidance, just let me know. Google me… I’m Kees M. Paling, I published 10 books, 100 columns and 1.000 articles. Nowadays I help people to create their dream: a book of their own. And with success! #Narnia #Middle-earth #Oz #Imagination #Otherworld #Yourbook #Createyourdream

One of my all-time favourites!! Have read it twice and will definitely read it again! It is fascinating when we re-read a book how it can be a totally different read. Recently I have been thinking how books need a fertile soil, if we read with a narrow mind those books who only confirm our narrow view on the world, we might stop reading immediately. Reading to stuff our mind with more facts is totally useless when it doesn’t expand our being, opens our mind and deepens our understanding. The more I read, the more I realise how extremely little I know. But that doesn’t worry or sadden me. It is not about knowing facts and gathering knowledge. It’s about understanding. Understanding this human experience, going through life with a certain detachment, reverence for the sacredness of life and compassion for all sentient beings. On this Sunday, I wish you a day full of curiosity, eagerness to learn, fascination for life and joy in the experience!! Much love, Barbara. #books #wisdom #barbaravercruysse

Who gets to decide who should be loved, in which way and in what amount? This thought has been haunting my mind ever since finished this book. I am in awe. I am in tears. I am numb. This book feels like elegant language and metaphors wrapped into pages. Arundhati Roy has rightfully written a masterpiece worthy of the Bookers Prize. "The God of Small Things" is a story about caste-phobia, love, separation, loss, revenge and justice. It is a story about two siblings, a toxic lineage, a close-knit family with a huge psychological distance. Now, let's talk about the story shall we? The plot revolves around how "everything changed in a day" and "there was this huge tragedy and "Estha is a quiet boy. It builds the urgency, this suspense. You'll be thinking of "how did this tragedy take place?" and "Why is Estha so scared?" and then all of a sudden, you'll be reading about the communists and how Pappachi was a toxic man. However, considering how the story develops and the bond you'll form with the characters, the abrupt cliffhangers are a small compromise. Arunadhati Roy has created her own literary style which is a marvel in itself. But this very uniqueness feels like a double edged sword. There is a hidden humour and comfort in her writing style but understanding it demands loads of patience amidst the confusion. #bookreview #bookrecommendations #books #readers

My summer 2023 was devoted to reading all books by Ilona Andrews. I fell in love with her Kate Daniels series, devouring all the short stories and spin off novels, and then I jumped right into her Innkeeper Chronicles series, which dare I say, is even better?! The world building is first class, the romance is addictive, the characters are fantastic - everything, as usual with Ilona, was everything I could ask for in a romance and more. Do yourself a favor, and read one of her books!#urbanfantasy #paranormalromance #favoriteauthor #favoritebook #booktok
