Responsible for managing a campus? What you need is a Digital Campus, like the one created at The University of Warwick. This leading university has built a digital twin of its entire 200-hectare estate, which combines data from dozens of separate systems and spreadsheets. Built with Esri’s #ArcGIS System, it consolidates information on everything from streetlighting and underground assets to biodiversity sightings and energy usage to provide staff with a single source of information. Data is clearly presented on 2D and 3D digital maps of the campus, as well as on interactive dashboards and in engaging Story Maps. As a result, members of staff in the Estates Team and beyond can easily visualise situations and make well-informed, strategic and operational decisions relating to the management and future development of the campus. If you manage a campus or other large estate, do take a look at the recently published case study about the University of Warwick. You’ll be inspired by what the Estates Team has achieved in terms of improving the efficiency and sustainability of the campus. Congratulations to everyone at the University of Warwick for leading the way! https://lnkd.in/etG3XGsq

Sales Manager at Ontotext - improving business outcomes substantially by making interconnected & machine-readable information interoperable and sharable at web scale
My Master's thesis focused on integrating a Chatbot and a Location Intelligence System (GIS) for Site Selection. I submitted the Master Thesis within the #UNIGIS MSc program at Z_GIS - Department of Geoinformatics, University of Salzburg, under the superb leadership of Josef Strobl, back in June 2018. 🌍 Looking back, I highly recommend this field of study since it covers many fields of today's Technology Era, such as data modeling, data acquisition, geodatabase, app development, spatial analysis and statistics, remote sensing, and GIS infrastructure. 💻 You can find more information here https://unigis.at/en/ and in the comment section. This foundational knowledge helped me work at the greatest companies out there and with the most brilliant minds running those companies. For that, I am grateful. 😘 Therefore, I support #MINT subjects since they are the foundation of our collective technological advancements and their benefits. 💡 What did you study? Looking back, was it helpful to you and the people around you?

Our latest blog post explores our complicated feelings about university rankings - https://lnkd.in/ekJzEF5f We know that many users do use policy citation data to benchmark or analyse performance against others or to create rankings and lists to help them prioritise analyses. We also know that there’s an increasing need for data to help demonstrate broader impacts including on policy. So here we attempt to navigate the nuances, and set out some general rules of thumb for using the Overton data in this way ⬇

Benchmarking case studies around the world has always been common practice within the placemaking and creative industries, especially at the beginning of projects when trying to understand the right experience for a place. At ERA-co, we like to take this service to the next level by using spatial data analytics that allow us to learn more about a place beyond the qualitative manner. One of our senior urban analysts, Lorena Brambila, developed a quick comparative benchmarking exercise between some of the top US universities to understand beyond the academics, how the built environment of these campuses could have an impact on how students experience their everyday college life. In this analysis, we dig into Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University. Can the design of campuses facilitate more diverse interaction and innovation? Over the past few years, I've been immersing myself in the world of data to enhance how we design human-centric spaces. Here is an interesting example of how we are combining these two worlds: #datadrivendesign #humancentric

Professor of Urban Studies, Technology and Planning, City 4.0 Lab, Queensland University of Technology
Proud to share that I again made it to the Stanford University's top 2% scholar list both in career-wide and single year categories. https://lnkd.in/gUsZsyir During the last few versions of the science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators, my h-index performance was in top-10 worldwide and top in Australia in the discipline of #UrbanAndRegionalPlanning. However, this year’s achievement is special! While in the career-wide category, I am still ranked (h-index) number 8 worldwide and number 1 in Australia; In the single year category (2022), I am humbled to announce that my ranking is (h-index) #number1 both #worldwide and in #Australia. Nevertheless, I also note the need for caution when using evaluative systems based on citation metrics alone, like this one, as they are not necessarily the best tools to measure sustained good research and impact.
