In our recent webinar, zeroheight’s Luke Murphy explored the fascinating role of patterns in design systems. Here's a key takeaway: Patterns are essential for creating a consistent and cohesive user experience. They help codify how to handle particular experiences across a product. There is a while until the event takes place, but definitely worth popping in the diary and worth joining virtually if you aren't lucky enough to present in San Fran. Sam Drury has been leading a vastly complex and innovative transformation project with our friends at bbc.com and has some fascinating findings to share at #config2024. One of the biggest projects of this kind ever undertaken.... #digitalproduct #digitaltransformation #innovation #figma
We’re hugely excited to announce that Sam Drury, our UX Director, will be speaking at this year’s #Config2024, Figma’s annual conference! Alongside BBC Studios' Creative Director, Laura Llewellyn, Sam will be speaking about: 'Redesigning BBC.com: Crafting a Connected Global Experience.' The talk will delve into the intricacies and challenges faced throughout this comprehensive transformation of BBC.com. We couldn’t be happier to be doing this in collaboration with the BBC. Config is Figma’s conference for people who build products, where the great minds in product, design, and engineering come together to connect, learn, and be inspired. This year, the event will host over 8,000 attendees in person and expects another 200,000 to join virtually. You can also join on June 26 & 27 live in San Francisco or virtually from around the world. Register on config.figma.com. #BBC #Figma #ConfigSpeaker #UICDigital #DigitalProductExperts

Hello Linkedin Fam 👋👋 Its a new week and we continue from our last week's topic: unlocking the powers of empathy in UX Design This week, we are looking at problem definition as a precuror to innovation. Defining problems is a very important skill set in the tool box of designers and makes the ideation phase so much smoother for how can you solve a problem you don't know or have clearly articulatedd? Check our latest post on defining the problem 🥳 Cheers to the new week☺️
🧠 #KnowledgeMonday Hello everyone 👋👋 Trust you had an amazing weekend. Welcome to a new week 🥳🥳 Advancing from our study on empathy, today we go deeper by looking into the world of problem definition, the next phase after understanding the users from the lens of empathy. In the illustrious realm of design, where challenges unfold like chapters in a novel, defining the problem emerges as the crucial prologue to innovation. It's an art, a creative odyssey where designers embark on a quest to understand, reframe, and ultimately transform complexities into opportunities. We explored the concept of defining problems using the Point of view tool also know as problem statement, what it entails , what makes a good POV and many more.. Very informative, and here are my thoughts: 1. Power of our PhD training: The theoretical frameworks we learned are very useful for identifying the problems of entrenched praxis and innovating research in the industry. 2. Shift from product ecosystem thinking to user ecosystem thinking: I used to think about how products are connected, either directly or partially, to form the ecosystem. However, it seems that it is a "friction of availability", as it still focuses on direct users engaged with products and services, thus overlooking the various users who are situated in complex systems, interdependent, interconnected, and mutually influential. Enjoyed this piece very much!
Old school #User-CenteredDesign approaches are inadequate for today's complex user experiences. Now more than ever, design must think in terms of #systems. At last fall's EPIC People conference, Benjamin Chesluk and I presented a paper on #UserEcosystemThinking -- our approach to human-centered design that takes account of the systemically (often globally) interconnected ecosystems of people, things, and behaviors that together constitute user experiences today. In the paper we identify three reasons why design and innovation increasingly fail to take account of user ecosystems, and we propose new tools for envisioning products and services that are designed for user ecosystems rather than just individual users. 📣 Giant shout-out to Daniel Pidcock and Larissa Schwedersky from Glean.ly for giving the Solace team a fab learning lunch on all things Atomic Research last Friday 🤓 Building on Brad Frost's Atomic Design framework, Atomic Research is really useful for anyone who wants or needs to organise facts and findings at scale. 🧐 It ensures that both qualitative and quantitative data - as well as the decisions made using it - are transparent and obvious. 😏 Just as Atomic design systems promote collaboration, atomic research makes it easy for well - anyone really - to add data and get involved in synthesis / insight generating. Since Friday, we have already started building our UX repo at Solace so we can keep track of learnings across our projects and use them elsewhere appropriately. https://lnkd.in/eTWu42Yc

A mainstay of our process to build the best tech is creating a design system. It's a win-win for our developers and our clients, and that's just good business! Why are we pro design system? It allows us to stay nimble and focused, and promotes our three favorite adjectives: consistent, efficient, and collaborative. Since we're about knowledge sharing, we'll be sharing some features of a design system throughout the week. Read through our first three elements and stick around for more! #technology #systems #design #uxui #digitaltechnology #softwaredevelopment
