We’re thrilled to share Equip’s second annual report! 🎉 Since our first report, Equip has evolved in many ways. Among our milestones, we’ve opened our virtual doors to patients of all ages (treating people as young as 4 and as old as 70). We also expanded coverage with Medicaid and other insurance providers to reach a total of over 110 million covered lives. The landscape has evolved as well, with telehealth utilization for eating disorder treatment increasing 10,000% in the past four years amid the surging youth mental health crisis, ever-evolving risks of social media, and prolific spread of weight loss drugs. Now, our mission to get effective treatment to every person who needs it is more important than ever. Our annual report is a commitment to transparency in clinical, demographic, and coverage data. We use scientifically-validated measures and patient feedback to assess patient care and improve treatment, resulting in the findings we share today. This year's outcomes show that our treatment isn’t just accessible — it’s also highly effective. In order to give a full picture of where we are and where we're going, the report expands beyond outcomes, including exclusive patient stories, research insights, program updates (more support groups, body image programs), and a look at what's ahead for us. Swipe through to get a peek into our key statistics for the past year, and click on the link to unlock our full annual report. https://lnkd.in/gFztxzEd

Co-Founder ViTel Health *Champion for Independent Physician Practices and Equitable Care * Healthspan Optimization Physician with Rebel Health Alliance
What are the best patient outcomes, and who decides which doctors achieve them and why? By now, most of you have read my post about ending #corporatepracticeofmedicine to some degree in Oregon, and there are numerous articles citing the decline in patient outcomes post-acquisition of hospitals and specialty practices. Yet, these centers continue to enjoy self-referrals and insurance referrals despite the harm caused to patients. The push for #betterdata to determine who truly are "America's Top Doctors" typically comes from insurance companies. They penalize doctors for post-procedural complications like infections, blood clots, etc... that most doctors have very little, if any, control over and that cost insurance companies more money. This leads to independent physician offices losing referrals or declining patients with complex medical conditions that might lead to adverse events. These patients are, in turn, shunted to large hospital systems that may or may not perform the procedures they need but rarely provide them with access to the primary care that would truly curb complications by providing better pre-operative disease management. Patients don't end up getting better care because these systems are not incentivized to provide better chronic disease management but instead to operate on healthy individuals. This could all change if physicians started working together within a cooperative outside of these systems. Primary care doctors could provide ongoing, tech-enabled care to patients with chronic diseases who also need procedures so that these patients could be operated on in ASCs more safely. Independent specialists could improve their outcomes as well as throughput, knowing they have a partnership with other community physicians. And patients would get better care from people they trust and with whom they have a relationship, because do you know the number one predictor of better health outcomes? Access to great doctors who you trust.

And this is the biggest problem with the state of US Healthcare 🇺🇲 : I went to enroll in a "wellness" program from a huge company partnered with my insurance company. But since I'm not [already] sick, I don't qualify! Hi Jeff, Thank you for applying to XXX. We use clinical screening criteria set by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Unfortunately, we’re unable to accept you into the program because the answers you entered into your application indicated that you had a clinical factor that the CDC has concluded makes this program inappropriate for you based on their guidelines. Some of the most common clinical reasons for not qualifying for the program: -You do not have enough clinical risk factors for the program -Your weight is not in the overweight or obese range This is from a highly reputable company that most people would know by name.... 🌟 🎇 When will we start providing access to people that want to LIVE WELL, instead of providing access to programs to treat already sick patients? We need better access in this country.

Enterprise Patient Assistance Program Partnership at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Notably and Proportionately Benefited Rural Communities Thrilled to present a poster at America’s Essential Hospitals VITAL24, “Increasing Access to Patient Assistance Programs for Rural Cancer Patients: A Retrospective Cohort Study”. Cancer patients residing in rural communities often experience disparities across the care continuum and higher cost-related barriers to care due to health insurance coverage gaps, employment interruptions with loss of wages, and higher out-of-pocket & travel costs compared with urban patients. A proactive patient assistance program partnership can be considered as an effective care delivery intervention to increase rural cancer patients’ access to financial resources, mitigate financial hardship, and decrease health disparities. Shout Out thank you to my amazing collaborators Laila Craveiro John Kusluch OHSU Knight Cancer Institute Atlas Health America's Essential Hospitals.
