President and CEO at Equinor

For 30 years Equinor has safely stored CO2. Earlier this year we announced and increased our ambition for CO2 transport and storage capacity to 30–50 million tonnes annually in 2035. And last week we reached quite some milestones! First, we signed an agreement with French GRTgaz for the development of a CO2 transport system from industrial clusters in France into the planned CO2 Highway Europe CO2 pipeline project. To safely store emissions underground, we need more storage capacity available. Last week we were also awarded both the Albondigas and the Kinno CO2 licenses as operator in the North Sea. And finally, we also secured our first exploration license for CO2 storage in Denmark as operator, together with strong partners Ørsted and Nordsøfonden. These are all important contributions in our work to bring forward new future CO2 storages and industrial solutions that support the large-scale decarbonisation of industry in Europe. Congratulations and thank you for great work towards these milestones - Grete Tveit, Torbjørg Heskestad, and their teams. Photo: Equinor/Ole Jørgen Bratland

Equinor's expertise in subsea technology is an important contributor to safe and cost-effective storage solutions, we see great opportunities to make this more affordable than today's subsea solutions

30 years might be a stretch. Statoil flared a massive amount of natural gas in the Bakken of North Dakota...glad to see priorities are improving.

Congrats; this are good progress and good examples of CO2 storage solutions. 🤞; for similar solutions in the #NLOffshore.
