For years, I found myself avoiding the last chapters of the 𝙃𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙮 𝙋𝙤𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨. It was probably not the only occasion I was hesitant to confront the end. Yet... ...as I prepare to depart my current job after eight years, I've chosen to embrace closure and the opportunities it brings. Here are three actions I undertook to honour the past and welcome the future: 𝟭. 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗮 “𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸” 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗩𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆𝘀 This meeting served a dual purpose. The first was to provide closure for both my team and myself. The second was to launch the new agile team coach and offer a preview of what lies ahead. Through this process, I found relief and valuable insights for future assignments. 𝟮. 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 Crafting this message allowed me to express gratitude to my talented colleagues and reminisce on shared experiences. Reading the responses with memories, encouragements, and compliments brought me many smiles. 𝟯. 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 “𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄” While this event is yet to come, my hope is to foster a transition from professional colleagues to something new. ▶ To all those navigating job transitions, I invite you to share your experiences: * How have you approached the process of ending one chapter and beginning another? * What actions have you taken to derive meaning from closure? * Are there actions you opted not to take, and what influenced those decisions?
