✨ Thrilled to share that our joint team of EIS and Bayernwerk in collaboration with GIEAG Immobilien AG, are spearheading a groundbreaking initiative for a fossil-free energy supply for a new development in Munich. 🏗 About the project : This innovative urban quarter, spanning 19 hectares, will revolutionise the landscape with its 200,000 square meters of flexible space, encompassing offices, light industry, and hotels, all in one vibrant location. At the core of this endeavor we're implementing decentralised reversible heat pumps, tapping into groundwater via a network of wells for efficient heating and cooling. Plus, we're harnessing locally generated photovoltaic electricity to power this dynamic space. But that's not all – our holistic approach extends to a dedicated operational power grid, seamlessly integrating heating, cooling, electricity, and even electromobility sectors, creating a truly sustainable ecosystem. 🌟 We've just secured grant notification under the BEW-Funding Module I, marking a significant milestone towards further exploration, design, and calculation phases. Looking ahead, we're eager to embark on this journey alongside GIEAG Immobilien AG, shaping a sustainable future for Munich and beyond. Stay tuned for more updates as we make strides towards a greener, cleaner tomorrow!

🔋 Curious about the future of sustainable urban living? Discover how Positive Energy Districts can transform cities and creating an energy-efficient tomorrow with MAKING-CITY EU! 🌱 Transitioning a city's energy system and balancing electricity and gas needs is more and more challenging. The MAKING-CITY EU project, financed by the EU, introduces Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) to tackle this. These dedicated neighborhoods strive for energy balance by producing more energy than they consume using sustainable technologies like solar panels and wind turbines. Over the past 6 years of the MAKING-CITY EU project, our two Lighthouse cities have developed 3 PED areas: one in Oulu (FI) and two in Groningen (NL). Drawing insights from their successes and lessons learned, our six Follower cities are now actively replicating those models, selecting their PED areas and planning the implementation. 🆕 🔍Explore the factsheets of our 8 project cities to learn about their vision for decarbonization by 2050 and their local implementation strategies of the PED concept, including success stories, business models, stakeholder engagement, and more. Stay tuned as we release the factsheets of Groningen (NL), Oulu (FI), Kadiköy (TR), Vidin (BG), Lublin (PL), Trenčín (SK), Leon (ES) and Bassano del Grappa (IT) in the coming weeks! 📄 Read more in our article : https://lnkd.in/eh-q2Jsx #PositiveEnergyDistricts #RenewableEnergy #SustainableSolutions #EnergyEfficiency #SmartCities #Replication CARTIF | R2M Solution France | University of Oulu | COMUNE DI BASSANO DEL GRAPPA | Sivakka-Yhtymä | Waarborg Vastgoed | Oulun kaupunki - City of Oulu | Oulun Energia -konserni | University of Groningen | YIT - Urban developer and construction company | UniSMART - Fondazione Università di Padova | VTT | TNO | TECNALIA Research & Innovation | Cap Digital | Sustainable Buildings Netherlands | CGI | Demir Enerji Danismanlik | Green Building Council España (GBCE) | Gemeente Groningen | Grunneger Power | Green Synergy Cluster | Hanzehogeschool Groningen | Kadıköy Belediyesi | LGI | Lublin Municipal Office | New Energy Coalition | Smart Cities Marketplace | POCITYF | NEUTRALPATH project | SPARCSeu | RESPONSE | AtelierH2020 | ASCEND Project

Buildings account for 40% of the EU's energy demand, presenting a significant opportunity for energy savings. However, the current renovation rate of just 1.2% per year remains a major challenge. To boost renovation rates to 2-3% annually and meet climate targets, effective solutions need widespread demonstration and replication. This requires reducing renovation costs and disruption for occupants. EU-funded research through the #Horizon programme is delivering consumer-friendly, cost-effective, and faster technologies and approaches to accelerate deep energy-efficient renovations across Europe's building stock. The summer holidays are ending for some Omtre members and we are starting up new projects, like InnoTLT , and we are returning to our old projects like SirkTRE In September we will start another new Horizon Europe project DRASTIC 🇪🇺. DRASTIC which is about Demonstrating Real and Affordable Sustainable Building Solutions with Top-level whole life-cycle performance and Improved Circularity. DRASTIC is a collaborative Horizon Europe project involving several European academic and business partners, led by VITO (Belgium 🇧🇪) DRASTIC is about designing sustainable buildings with reduced embodied energy and carbon emissions, high life-cycle performance, and reduced life-cycle costs. The project addresses systemic changes in a rapidly evolving EU building and construction sector. It aims to accelerate the circular processes of constructing, renovating, reusing, and relocating new and existing products to empower local ecosystems to make the CE transition by implementing Circular Systemic Solutions (CSS). This is done through providing frameworks and a digital platform to assess, trace, and validate the reduction in GHG emissions throughout the lifecycle(s) and by recommending new business models that accelerate market uptake. DRASTIC revolves around 5 demonstrators each with a different focus on the building sector, in France, Germany, Spain, Norway and Estonia. Omtre will be the Norwegian pilot leader and our staff will also lead two tasks in the overall project. The other key partners in the Norwegian demonstration are Produktif 🇳🇴and TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology 🔥 For more information, ask Urda Ljøterud and Wendy Wuyts . You can expect to read here more updates and learning and innovation outcomes … in the following 4 years. #sirkulærøkonomi #ombruk #sirktre #drastic

1moImpressive. Hopefully you could add solar thermal like the technology from Naked Energy Ltd that will improve the overall efficiency, decarbonisation and resilience of the heat pumps based system, reducing electricity consumption needs and using directly the sun to supply part of the heat needs.
