The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has a full-time opportunity available for a Basin Coordinator (Natural Resource Specialist 4). You will develop and implement Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) in the Northwest Region and function as DEQ’s watershed management expert for the Sandy River Basin as well as the Molalla and Clackamas Sub-Basins of the Willamette River Basin. You will provide technical assistance and review for TMDL implementation activities in basins with TMDLs. Activities include ensuring that Designated Management Agencies and Responsible Persons’ TMDL Implementation Plans are developed, submitted, and approved in a satisfactory and timely manner, and in accordance with state and federal laws and statutes, administrative rules, and guidelines. In addition, you will develop TMDLs for parameters listed on the 303(d) list of impaired waterbodies in collaboration with other watershed management staff. You will also be responsible for responding to and investigating water quality pollution complaints. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in physical science, environmental science, natural resources, or a closely related field, AND 4 years of experience in a natural resource or environmental field (an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable). At least 1 year of experience at a technical or professional level performing activities in a natural resource program, such as researching and analyzing data, conducting investigations, applying pertinent laws and regulations, or coordinating and monitoring project activities.
