In February, TaNae was referred to Entryway National Capital Region through the Salvation Army Turning Point program to assist young mothers. TaNae jumped in full force, completing her online training, in-person workshops, and resume and interview coaching sessions. Soon after, she was able to secure a leasing consultant position with Allegiant-Carter! She had this to say: “I was pregnant at 23, and after giving birth to my son I went into a deep depression. I was searching for light and stability. Entryway came at the right time and now me and my son can feel stability in our own home without relying on someone else.” Way to go, TaNae! 🙌 #multifamily #successstory #workforcedevelopment

The post-military journey can vary greatly for each of us. As I attempted to condense two decades of my life into just two pages, I found myself pondering which topics aligned best with the job description. Should I mention this experience? Should I bring up that achievement? These questions swirled in my mind. Turning to my 10-year-old daughter, I asked, "Aleena, what do you think I should emphasize during the interview?" Her response was both simple and profound, "Dad, just be yourself and let them know that you'll be a valuable asset to the company because you've been to different places, seen the world, and kept people safe from bad people." The lesson here is that as fathers, we sometimes need to ask our children for guidance, and the answer may have been right in front of us all along. Wishing you all a joyful Friday and a relaxing weekend. Don't stress, and keep moving forward. #PostMilitaryJourney #JobInterviewPrep #ParentingAdvice #LifeLessons #FamilySupport #WeekendVibes #StayPositive #KeepMovingForward 🌟👨👧🌍

Yesterday, I was fortunate to be invited to spend an amazing evening at the RBLI Lifeworks event, representing #turnerandtownsend in the House of Commons with The Lord King of Lothbury KG GBE as main speaker and veterans sharing personal accounts of their journey as a civilian. RBLI Lifeworks provides veterans and family members of those currently serving with the tools needed to find their desired career outside of the Armed Forces. They provide employment advice or information on career pathways, to confidence courses and CV writing. Lifeworks aims to prepare those who need assistance with the skills needed to achieve their goals in the civilian job market. In numbers: 1000 - People supported last year 83% - Are in employment, training, or volunteering within 1 year of attending Lifeworks 79% - Of the ex-military personnel helped have a physical or mental disability Listening to those veteran speakers, I found parts that strongly resonated with my own journey. Leaving the military, after 24 years in the Royal Engineers in May 2022. The anxiety that came attached to the challenge of understanding where you might fit and where you can best add value. Finding the resilience and beating back the feeling of any doubt. Confidence is a result of progress and the actions we take. It is easy to overlook our own potential. The science in achieving greater things is paying more attention to a trajectory; not a matter of how far you reach or where you are today, but instead reflect on how far you’ve come, where you were a few months ago and consider where you will be in several years. Turner & Townsend have provided that opportunity for me and we have the best team in Defence South-East, it’s like a second family! If you’d like to join our team and looking for new challenge and great opportunities then please reach out to me or to Drew Campbell and Ian Martin. #TTGreatPlaceToWork #defence #rbli #defenceindustry #TTMakingTheDifference
