I’m excited to share a glimpse of my typical day as an intern Brenin . Working at an AI startup has been an incredible experience, full of learning and growth. Here’s how my day usually unfolds: Morning: ☀️ I start my day by catching up on the latest AI news and trends. Staying updated helps me bring fresh perspectives to our projects. Next, I dive into project work. Currently, I'm contributing to the JAPAN-INDIA INNOVATION PITCH with the Japan Trade Organisation (JETRO), where we're developing a perfect pitch for the event. It has been both challenging and rewarding. Afternoon: After a quick lunch, it's time for team meetings. We discuss our progress, brainstorm solutions, and set goals for the week. Collaborating with such a talented and passionate team is truly inspiring. Post-meeting, I focus on management tasks such as project coordination and market research. Evening: We take a little break to recharge, which is a great time to unwind, chat with colleagues, and learn from our seniors. My colleague Rincy Mol A K have always been so helpful and supportive, making the experience even more enriching.After the break, I dedicate some time to learning and professional development. Whether it's conducting research or exploring new tools, continuous learning is key in the ever-evolving AI field. Before wrapping up, I and Rincy Mol A K connect with our mentor to discuss our progress and seek feedback. Their guidance has been invaluable in helping me grow and excel in my role. 12 months at BABLE Smart Cities? - Where did the time go so quickly? 🏙 When I started my internship at BABLE Smart Cities in our Barcelona office on April 3, 2023, I thought it would be just a "normal" internship as part of my studies. I had already experienced the "big world" of corporations in Germany and Spain in various positions - experiences I wouldn't want to miss. That's why I made the clear decision "for something smaller." Back then, still a start-up, BABLE Smart Cities has grown into a steadily growing and evolving scale-up in the smart city sector, which has overcome various challenges in the past months - and I am a part of it. A handful of business trips, hundreds of meetings, and various exciting tasks later, I know: this was not a normal internship! 🚀 If someone had told me back then that I would also contribute to this journey, I would probably have smiled and waved it off - after all, I'm just an intern and working student. But now, after 6 months of full-time internship and another 6 months as a working student, I can agree with that. I have been deeply integrated into the team structures and trained, I have had obligations since day one and also various responsibilities, where I can "wear the hat". Something that is not self-evident in both positions and therefore so exciting. Last month, I was able to celebrate my biggest success so far, my online seminar series on the topic of AI in cities had over 175 participants from cities, municipalities, and companies. 🤖 When I look at where my team and I, but also the whole company, stood in April 2023 and where we are now - two different worlds! An incredible journey that has not yet found an end, but is probably only just beginning now. I am curious to see what will happen in the next 12 months and what I will have to report then. I am ready - ready for the upcoming meetings, tasks, challenges, action days, and company outings - but even more, I am curious, where will we be in April 2025? After 6 months working for a company that enables management of marketplaces, he was ready to transition to the other side of the window, by managing Dipli's operations on marketplaces. From customer success to data, Benjamin has remained in the tech industry, eager to explore the circular economy within it, making him a perfect match for us. 💻 Gwendoline Le Floch studied for one year in one of our neighboring countries - Spain - after spending 2 years in a preparatory class. After two internships, one in the circular economy marketplace and the other in the tech industry, she decided to specialize in Responsible technological innovation management. Joining Dipli forces was a natural fit, considering her career path and our mission. 🌿 Mathis Harignordoquy is passionate about informatics. Like Gwendoline, he spent some time abroad in San Francisco for a semester in an IT engineering school and then did an intership in image recognition AI. Internship Spotlight! We recently had the pleasure of interviewing our talented intern Louisa, who spent six months with ORTEC in our Zoetermeer office, diving deep into the world of predictive analytics. Her innovative thesis focused on predicting parking times, a crucial topic in urban planning and transportation innovation. What was her experience like? What challenges did she face? And what valuable lessons did she learn? Here's a sneak peak at some of the questions asked: What did you do at ORTEC? “As a graduate intern in the Innovation Team at ORTEC, I have been focusing on predicting parking time using machine learning techniques. Considering that accurate travel time estimations are crucial for ORTEC’s routing solutions, and parking is often an important yet overlooked aspect of travel, my goal has been to determine the impact of parking time predictions on schedules.” How was your experience as a graduate intern? “The atmosphere within the team and ORTEC in general was very welcoming and stimulating. I joined many of the planned social events, such as escape rooms, padel, salsa workshops, and more! Additionally, having a supportive group of fellow graduate interns has made the process of writing my thesis a lot more fun.” What's next? “After my graduation I will work for half a year at CWI (Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica in the Netherlands) contributing to one of their very exciting research projects, followed by some months of travelling. When I'm back, I will definitely keep an eye open for opportunities within ORTEC, as I've enjoyed my time here a lot!" This data was collected by KultureHire, and it provides some interesting insights into what Gen-Z is looking for in their careers. Here are a few key findings: The most influential factor among Gen-Z is their parents. Gen-Z is more likely to be influenced by their parents' career choices than previous generations. This is likely due to the fact that Gen-Z has grown up in a time of economic uncertainty, and they are looking for stability and security in their careers. Most of the Gen-Z preferred the Remote Travel working environment followed by Hybrid. Gen Z is more likely to value flexibility and work-life balance than previous generations. This is likely due to the fact that Gen-Z has grown up with technology, and they are used to being able to work from anywhere. Goodbye Graz! Hello Internship? Exchange semester: ✅ done! If I had to describe my experience in three words, it would be: the snowy Alps 🏂, delicious (Wiener) Schnitzel and the friendliness of the Styrian people. As I have handed in my last study project of my exchange semester here at FH CAMPUS 02 in Graz (AT), the next big step in my studies lies ahead of me: finding an internship in the Marketing and IT field (location: Central Europe and Finland). 🙋♂️ Who am I? Former transportation professional and now aspiring graduate in Business Information Technology. I am in my third year at my home university LAB University of Applied Sciences in Lappeenranta (FI). Enthusiastic, creative, and enquiring mind are three terms that describe my personality. My experience in the truck 🚚 and retail 🛒 industry enhanced my problem-solving, time management and resilience. Additionally, my international stay has improved my language skills in English (C1) and German (A1). 💪 Why the Marketing and IT field? 🤔 Exploring the interconnectedness of Marketing and IT fascinates me.
