Ironically I couldn't agree more!! 1. We need to get better at disagreeing faster and then aligning (nominal group technique is one of my favorite techniques for this) 2. We need to FIRST understand who owns the decision https://lnkd.in/gTGEj3CV

Leadership lessons from an unlikely source. Another great article from one of my favorite writers, #BenCohen, in the #WSJ. It's about #JRobertOppenheimer. I haven't seen the movie, but I have seen the PBS documentary, and I just finished #ModernPromethius by #KaiBird and #MartinJSherwin. It was excellent. Mr. Cohen highlights Oppenheimer's unlikely advancement into this critical leadership role and focuses on some the traits he had, or had to develop, to do so and be successful. The Recruiter: Oppenheimer built a world class team by recruiting members, not only based on their prior accomplishments, but also based on their potential. In addition, he added a human element to the recruitment and retention of his team by considering the needs of those team members even outside of their work life. The Communicator: Oppenheimer was a master of taking people of different perspectives and bringing them to consensus, but he was also able to move from director to dictator as needed to make sure paralysis didn't set in. In addition, he showed and uncanny ability to connect with people. The Collaborator: He insisted on collaboration and loathed hierarchy, silos and siloed thinking. The Actor: All successful managers and leaders must be able to "play different parts" when necessary. #BenCohen writes " Oppenheimer morphed into someone else altogether and became so unrecognizable to previous versions of himself that it was almost as if he were playing a character." #RichardRhodes, author of " #TheMakingoftheAtomicBomb”, states "“He (Oppenheimer) decided he was going to be the best lab director there ever was. That’s what he became.” Did Oppenheimer have his flaws? Sure, all humans do, and hindsight is always 20/20, but that doesn't mean there aren't lessons on leadership to be learned from him. The article is an excellent read as is the book. #leadership #management #leadershipexcellence #innovation #motivation

🌟 Announcement: Bill Capen for SMTA President! 🌟 Hello everyone! 👋 If we haven’t crossed paths yet, I’m Bill Capen, and I’m excited to be running for SMTA President. But let’s talk about you! Why am I running? Because of you—the brilliant minds in the electronic manufacturing world. 🌐🔌 This industry thrives on innovation, and I’ve soaked up wisdom from every person I’ve met during my 36 years in the field. Today, we mark the last day of bold discussions, that sought to ask the tough questions and challenge, where necessary, the status quo to make space for bold decisions needed to address the challenges that continue to face us. At the 19th Bled Strategic forum https://lnkd.in/dhBXs3g5 we inquired, amongst many questions, In a World of Parallel Realities 'how can we avoid double standards and at the same time take into account specific situations and contexts?' Transformation Catalyst reducing your organization's lead-time to realizing its improved future state.
📆 Title: How could you know? 💡 Topic: Opportunity Pursuits This year I am celebrating and reflecting upon my 20 years as an Industrial & Systems Engineer #IISE. I obtained my degree from the great North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University or just "A & T" for those who exemplify #AggiePride. A & T has consistently been the number one graduate of African American engineers in the US; Check Us Out. This past weekend was homecoming #GHOE. I did not attend this year because I was in "The Lab" cooking with several of my ingredients: Soccer Dad, Husband, Handy Person, Small Business Owner, Adjunct Faculty. But before those ingredients existed, one of my ingredients was band member in A&T's Blue & Gold Marching Machine #BGMM; Look Us Up. 🔦 So, when discussing business opportunities with potential clients, employers, or business partnerships I have an ingredient that is critical to the recipe for Andrew Jallah Jr. Below is a photo of me and the late band director Dr. Johnny B. Hodge. "Just so you know", when working with me you get to experience all of my ingredients, this is just one of them. 📣 Think of 3F Performance Consulting, LLC when you need to address/ strategize the improvement or optimization of your operational and transformational initiatives. 🤔 Synergized Systems = One Band One Sound Back to "The Lab" 💨 #Dare2BCurious #FlowFitFunction #Synergy #IISE #IndustrialEngineer #NCAT #BGMM #GHOE #Consulting #Operations #Transformation #OperationalExcellence #ContinuousImprovement #OrganizationalDevelopment #RFP #StandardWork #Excellence #Quality #CustomerService
