U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Post

Without a doubt, industries have a role to play in the transition to clean energy. But we cannot underestimate the power of consumers in aiding this transition. Today, we’re bringing both parties in. 🔋 We’re announcing the selection of Staples and Batteries Plus to expand ways for consumers to recycle the batteries in their electronics and household appliances. Why? So that the clean energy sector can reuse the critical minerals (nickel, lithium, graphite, etc.) in these batteries that would typically be sourced from China. The office supply store and retailer will provide over 1,000 collection points across the country for spent batteries from consumer products, allowing consumers easy and free access to turn in old batteries and battery-containing devices and reduce e-waste. *This announcement is supported by President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and managed by DOE Manufacturing & Energy Supply Chains Office (MESC). It is surely crystal clear that before achieving the upcoming totally green energy future of Hydrogen, we should continue harsh efforts to save adequate quantities of the remaining Rare Critical Minerals all over the world. In this respect this excellent DOE's Administration initiative is on the correct and absolutely necessary direction. On the other hand, the International Energy World should move dynamically together with the ongoing excellent Hydrogen Europe Initiative as well as with all other similar scientific institutional efforts and developments at International Level, strongly together with U.S.A's Department of Energy and other relevant international Energy institutions.

It says the office supply store. But there are many. Are there specific store (store-chains) that are part of this initiative? Do civilians earn rewards for recycling their batteries?
