*REQUIRED* Defibrillator for Aerospace The ONLY way fix the situation below is through a brave startup engineering a 'perfect' aircraft from first principles. Perfect aircraft: - Long range - Supersonic - Electric If you know of such startup, tag them below! 😉✈🚀
Between the Kittyhawk maiden flight and Apollo 11 landing, the #aerospaceindustry drove the most profound period of technological progress in human history. Then we kinda went into coast mode for a half-century or so. It's time to get urgency and innovation back into air and space. #innovationimperative #aviation #space #thermalmanagement #heatbarriers

"When the airspace gets busier and more flight movements by a wide variety of craft are happening in it, visual flight rules are no longer enough. We want to organise the airspace as flexibly as possible for various users. So there’s work to be done." Jürgen Teutsch works at the Royal Netherlands Aerospace Centre (NLR) as a senior R&D engineer at the Air Traffic Management and Airport department of the Royal Netherlands Aerospace Centre (NLR). https://lnkd.in/dRjnh5Bg NASA invites you, your family – even your friends and classmates – to sign up and add your name to our list of virtual passengers. Your name can ride with us on our X-planes, drones, and other flights as NASA explores ways to improve aviation for everyone. Print your personalized boarding passes, enter flights into your virtual flight log, and access activities, videos, and more! https://lnkd.in/dCh42MVw Rollout of the X-59 Quesst Supersonic Plane (Official NASA Broadcast) https://lnkd.in/gj4cDDB2 Quesst is NASA's mission to demonstrate how the X-59 can fly supersonic without generating loud sonic booms and then survey what people hear when it flies overhead. Reaction to the quieter sonic "thumps" will be shared with regulators who will then consider writing new sound-based rules to lift the ban on faster-than-sound flight over land. https://lnkd.in/dBXETkdP Quesst Mission: https://lnkd.in/gzuWhVD4

The fourth flight of Starship brought us closer to a rapidly reusable future by SpaceX from wikipedia https://lnkd.in/dxEzGw7X Starship is a two-stage super heavy-lift launch vehicle under development by SpaceX. As of June 2024, it is the most massive and most powerful vehicle ever to fly.[4] Starship is intended to lower launch costs significantly via economies of scale.[5] This is achieved by reusing both rocket stages, increasing payload mass to orbit, increasing launch frequency, creating a mass-manufacturing pipeline, and adapting it to a wide range of space missions.[6][7] Starship is the latest project in SpaceX's decades-long reusable launch system development program and ambition of colonizing Mars.

Great question from Rex J Alexander 🚁, Let's discuss! This is a nuanced question, so let's focus on the perspective of leveraging existing heliports for #eVTOL operations. From an infrastructure operations perspective, there are numerous angles to consider: - Facility Design: Understanding the original purpose and design aircraft is crucial. When was the facility developed? What was the design aircraft? What modifications have been made over the years? - Compliance and Compatibility: Does the heliport still comply with design standards for its design aircraft? Does the existing design support the operations intended for eVTOLs? - Risk Assessment: If there are deviations from the original design standards and current vertiport design standards, what are these specific deviations? What are the specific risks associated? - Risk Mitigation: Identifying potential risks is one thing, but developing effective mitigation strategies is critical. What measures can be implemented to either eliminate or reduce these risks? - Operator and Facility Agreement: Establish whether the aircraft operator accepts the identified risks and the mitigation strategies. This communication is important. - Hold Harmless: Finally, given the deviations, risks, and mitigations, does the aircraft operator(s) hold facility harmless against liabilities in the event of an incident? Aviation safety is about clear communications, risk mitigation, and risk acceptance. Keeping things simple helps. Complexity adds risk and costs, which will likely be passed to the consumers in ticket costs. Finally, beware of complacency and 'check-the-box' attitudes in operations management, especially from those lacking experience in high-tempo environments. I trust the FAA's certification process and the OEM's commitment to scaling safely, which makes me comfortable with the idea of my family using an eVTOL. However, what stops me today isn't the aircraft; it's the infrastructure. If the #advancedairmobility industry is planning to utilize existing heliports for these operations, there's significant work ahead. Let's not underestimate the challenges or overpromise on current capabilities. For that, I applaud Daniel Mojica and the team at Vertiport Chicago | Vertiport Global as they've started down this path.

Check out this video to get an update on Ingenuity, the Mars Helicopter! NASA's Ingenuity made history on Apr. 19, 2021, as the first craft to achieve powered, controlled extraterrestrial flight. Over the next nearly three years, this technology demonstrator surpassed expectations, accumulating over two hours of flight time and covering 14 times the expected distance. Its final flight occurred on Jan. 18, 2024, after incurring damage to its rotor blades during a landing. Ingenuity will continue to collect data on Martian weather conditions. Farewell, Ingenuity! By representing the innovation, technology, and passion for excellence that marks vertical aviation, you made history!
