📢 NEWS: ADRAS-J has achieved a major technical milestone: completion of the rendezvous phase and the beginning of proximity approach. This success is underscored by starting Angles-Only Navigation, a navigation method to estimate relative position and velocity through the servicer’s on-board cameras — a landmark event for rendezvous and proximity operations. After initiating its approach from thousands of kilometers away, our operations team successfully maneuvered ADRAS-J to within several hundred kilometers of the rocket upper stage. ADRAS-J's visual camera then successfully detected the client, and its images were processed using Astroscale-developed Angles-Only Navigation algorithms. As the mission progresses into the proximity approach phase, ADRAS-J will continue to demonstrate industry-leading RPO technologies. How do space-based smart antennas achieve their outstanding multi-beam performance whilst being sure to comply with ITU, FCC and other regulatory spectrum requirements? MPG enables constellations using active electronically-steered antennas to achieve full compliance and reach their maximum performance potential. Phased array antennas are becoming a mainstay in orbit, providing functions ranging from flexible GEO communications which can direct their capacity over areas of greatest demand, to LEO synthetic aperture RADARs which observe the earth night and day and through cloud. As the radio spectrum becomes crowded, regulatory demand increases. Satellite manufacturers must produce high-power, accurately-steered beams, with minimum unintended emissions or susceptibility to interference. Inevitably this requires filtering – but not just any filtering. Each radiating and receiving element on the array, numbering sometimes in the hundreds, must have its own filter. The usual expectations apply – minimum insertion loss and maximum selectivity – but there is another, more challenging aspect; every element path must be predictable in its behaviour in phase and amplitude. This requires filters to not only be designed to match each other from one item to the next, but in production it must be proven by comparing each and every production unit with all others and in all environments.
