Social media managers are social media managers. They are not: -video editors -graphic designers -on-screen talent -PR professionals -Events managers -Community managers -etc. Can we *do* a lot of those things? Sure. Do we work alongside those roles (daily)? Absolutely. But if you're going to REQUIRE all those skills under one umbrella, don't title it a social media manager and PAY THEM proportionately to the multiple full-time jobs you are 'requiring.' End rant.

Digital Storyteller & Social Media Manager | Engaging Audiences with Compelling Content | Analytics-Driven Growth
As a professional social media manager actively seeking new employment opportunities in the field, I have encountered certain aspects within job descriptions that have prompted me to reflect upon the nature of the role. A social media manager is not a content creator. A social media manager is not a data analyst. A social media manager is not a graphic designer or video editor. Brands need to hire teams that can appropriately handle the amount of work that actually goes into social media marketing. Instead of assigning 15 different roles to one person and calling them a social media manager. #socialmedia #socialmediamarketing #Socialmediamanager #socialmediamonday #Mondaymotivation

70M Followers Across Social | Viral Video Marketer | #1 Most Viewed FB Page of 2021 | Speaker. Entrepreneur. Street Magician!
A social media manager is NOT a: Community manager Paid social expert Graphic designer Social strategist Videographer PR specialist Data analyst Copywriter Producer One person cannot do all of that effectively. 63% of social media professionals are either burned out or have experienced it in the past. I'm not surprised. I've been there myself. If companies want to implement a mix of strategies on multiple platforms they need a team behind them. Stop hiring a Social Media Manager to do the work of 15 people. It's not cool. More importantly, it's not possible. (PS. We've just got back from filming some epic content in the Philippines. More to come on this soon 🙌🏻)

If it’s the hospitality industry why aren’t you promoting your own content creators to empower them and your brand. More people need to understand there is depth, width, and length in marketing channels and a successful strategy requires time, consistency, and long term integration of purpose and mission. That’s why chasing revenues through marketing to only current trends is the deathknell for most businesses.
I teach social strategy to 70,000 marketers with my newsletter, Future Social. | Work: Microsoft, Twitch, Beats By Dre, Morning Brew, Verizon
If I was a brand that could only afford 1 social media hire, I'd seriously consider hiring a content creator over a do-everything social media manager. Content is 100x more important than other functions of social roles. If you're on a budget, throw all $ at the content itself.

Tell me if you relate to this.... 🤹♂️ You feel like you need eight arms, a time machine, and a personal barista just to keep up? 🐙🕒☕️ We get it. One minute you’re the CEO, the next you’re an unofficial social media strategist, video editor, copywriter, and hashtag wizard. Is it lunchtime yet… or is it time to time to VLOG about lunchtime? 🍽😅 Let’s simplify your life! Hiring a social media manager or content creator can take the social media circus off your hands so you can focus on what you do best—running your ACTUAL business. If you’re feeling up to it… tell me what your biggest social media struggle is, in the comments.👇🏼
