Launch event!   There is growing awareness that community #wellbeing is something for which the NHS does not have sole responsibility. Consequently, research and development funding is increasingly seeking evidence of #partnership and #collaboration between statutory services, the third sector, the private sector and academia. The Centre for Healthy Empowered Communities acts as a hub for these sectors, and via collaborative projects is ideally placed to provide an evidence base and solutions to support wellbeing, prevent ill-health and help address health inequalities. By partnering with them, we can develop healthcare solutions that are not only effective but also culturally appropriate and accessible. *Increased Trust* Building strong relationships with community groups helps to bridge gaps between healthcare systems and the people they serve. What does health and wellbeing look like when you take a new perspective on how it's managed and delivered? This inspiring article from New Local shows how GP Dr Gillian Orrow went from "pushing pills to connecting communities" in the founding of East Surrey initiative, Growing Together. "The premise of this work is simple: we invert the foundational assumptions of healthcare. Rather than start with diseases and how to fix them, we start with the evidence base on health and the conditions in which it is created. Such a starting point, we have discovered, changes everything." That is where the power of the community comes in, and often the support already exists. The Holyrood Connect's Digital Health and Care Conference concluded with a call for bold and innovative solutions to address the decline in healthcare quality in Scotland. Speakers like Carrie Thomson, Aaron Slater, Dr. Irene Mackintosh and Nigel Gallear shared inspiring examples of digital inclusion and coproduction projects making a difference, from empowering homeless individuals with digital skills to leveraging data in driving decision making. Also, I got to learn about the amazing work Kooth Digital Health (United Kingdom) is doing from Kerry Smith. With over 20 years experience in the NHS, Kooth Digital Health provides anonymous, effective and personalised mental health for care for children, young people and adults. The conference left me pondering the power of collaboration and collective innovation. To truly move forward, we must create spaces where diverse voices and expertise can come together. It's time to break down silos and build bridges - not just digital ones, but human ones too. 🚀 What a busy and productive week! 🚀 This past week has been a whirlwind of activity for our team with Natasha Chadwick, Greg Aleckson and Justin Chadwick busy meeting with the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care and key government representatives to discuss how our MICRO TOWN® model can support their plans for improving quality of care, quality of life, and sustainability across the sector. We had the incredible opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions on topics spanning from residential care, CHSP/HCP, regulatory reform, to built design. Our conversations centred around our innovative model and the benefits it has for everyone who lives in, works at, and visits our community as well as the significant benefits it can provide government and the larger health system. Our model is more than just an idea – it is a transformative approach that promises significant benefits across the board. This visit was a crucial step in demonstrating the potential of our model and the positive impact it can have on different communities nationwide, not just aged care. 📢 Call to Action: Are you passionate about the future of health and aged care like we are?
