We are dedicated to making a difference, both in and out of the office. Today, we're excited to highlight Christian Lehr, our Director of Treasury Management, who also serves as President of the board for Starkey, Inc. an amazing non-profit empowering people with disabilities in our community. Christian recently had the honor of presenting heartfelt artwork to two Starkey board members. Created by talented individuals at Starkey, these pieces not only decorate walls but also tell stories of creativity, resilience, and the power of community. Christian's dedication to both Emprise and Starkey exemplifies our commitment to fostering positive change.

A transformative vision is taking shape in Saginaw County, one that is set to transform the very fabric of our community. Led by a coalition of passionate community leaders from education, business, healthcare, and community non-profit, the Community Engagement and Inclusion Council (CEIC) is poised to create a brighter, more inclusive, and equitable future for all in our county. From grassroots conversations to impactful action, 2021 marked the genesis of a movement in Saginaw County. Community leaders, driven by a collective ambition for progress, spearheaded the creation of a robust diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice (DEIBJ) vision and strategic plan. This strategic plan provides a roadmap that promises to propel Saginaw County toward a future where diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice are cornerstones, not aspirations. For questions or to receive additional information, email the CEIC at [email protected]. Read more about the CEIC strategic plan introduction: https://lnkd.in/gB65qwFK

🌟 Empowering Communities: Bridging the Gap Between Corporations and Non-Profits 🌟 As professionals, we often find ourselves deeply committed to fostering positive change in our communities. Today, I want to share a vision that holds immense potential for impact: the powerful collaboration between corporations and non-profit organizations. Regardless of our roles within our respective companies, we possess the ability to forge meaningful partnerships that can uplift and empower those in need. If there's a non-profit you deeply resonate with, take a moment to envision the transformative impact that could be achieved by joining forces. For me, that organization is Cradles To Crayons Inc, specifically their Philadelphia Chapter. Their dedication to providing essential resources and educational support to children in need resonates deeply, particularly in a city like Philadelphia, where over 300,000 children grapple with poverty. It's crucial to recognize that these children are not just statistics; they are the future of our community. By empowering them with the tools they need to thrive, we're investing in a brighter tomorrow for everyone. So, I urge you: if there's a cause close to your heart, don't hesitate to reach out. Forge connections between your company and the non-profit sector. Together, we can create a ripple effect of positive change that reverberates far beyond our individual efforts. Let's work hand in hand to build a future where every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. Together, we can make a difference. 💫 #CommunityEmpowerment #CorporateSocialResponsibility #PartnershipsThatMatter https://lnkd.in/dw4VTbUs

Something has to be done.
The issue of gun violence hit devastatingly close to home earlier this week when a PECO employee was struck by a stray bullet while on the job in Philadelphia. We are very fortunate that our colleague was quickly released from the hospital and is recovering, but I’d be remiss not to acknowledge that this incident is only one of many that have become far too common in our region. While no one person or organization can solve this issue alone, I find comfort in knowing that at PECO we are working hard to help mitigate paths to ongoing violence and incarceration through our workforce development and community engagement efforts, which are proven to make a difference. Collaboration is also a vital part of making a greater impact and that is a key priority in my role as Board Chair of The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia and PECO’s support of the Civic Coalition to Save Lives, a group of businesses, civic, and philanthropic organizations that are working to reduce gun violence in Philadelphia. We owe it to future generations to act now - learn more about the Civic Coalition to Save Lives. https://lnkd.in/ep9fnGhE

December 20th is the sixth-year anniversary of MenHealing’s incorporation. For those of you who may not know our history, Weekends of Recovery began in 2001. We are grateful for seventeen years of support from MaleSurvivor.org, our original host organization. In 2017, members of our WOR Facilitator Team decided to incorporate as an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization. MenHealing reflected our commitment to greater attention for addressing the intersectionalities of social justice with sexual harm experienced by men and boys. As a new organization emerging from an already long history, two aspects quickly emerged to define our new organizational identity. First, our tagline encapsulated our collective energy: “Inspiring Hope / Changing Lives.” Second, we publicly declared our core values as a commitment that actions should be congruent with words: Intentionality, Integrity, Transparency, Self-Care, and Relationship. In my next two weekly postings I will elaborate more about our core value of relationship. Next week, I will share how the longevity of relationships has strengthened much of our work. The following week I will address the value of collaborative relationships throughout all areas of our work, thereby creating an environment of community rather than office.

"In response to not having or being without, Black communities have given their time, money, and other resources to one another to account for these needs. Philanthropy is a response to the often visible and invisible calls for help. Giving in the Black community has always underscored a deep sense of accountability to and a deep love of one’s community. Acknowledging this, it’s time to shift the narrative and view the Black community as individuals who are actively engaged in philanthropy by both backing and creating solutions to uplift one another." - Hawwa Muhammad, Founder of @pinktrumpetllc Grateful for #BlackPhilanthropyMonth as a reminder that our communities are dedicated to the visible and invisible calls for help. And in case it's been invisible to you thus far, this is our call for help. We provide youth impacted by foster care a platform to be heard, a start to their careers, a place to heal and find inspiration, erasing the limits of the foster system with every film released. And with Hollywood-level production and opportunities, bringing their talent to our creative community, it’s an impact you can see. For KITS, when the movie ends, the rest begins. But.... what is the rest? Through our Production Studio with Purpose, KITS contributes to building generational wealth in communities of color as the studio generates incomes which impact the outcomes young adults typically face aging out of foster care. With every use of the studio, you change the trajectory of young lives. It's official! The Trust for Civic Life has launched! An exciting day for folks building civic infrastructure, particularly in rural communities. From Hollie Russon Gilman, Ph.D.: The Trust is a new philanthropic collaborative and learning network with a simple mission: support local efforts that bring residents together to solve challenges they decide are most critical for their community to thrive. In times of polarization, we believe this is one critical step in the process of rebuilding trust in each other and forging a deeper democracy. https://lnkd.in/gQwUbPPH #democracy

Our founder and executive director, who many in the community know as "Dupree," sat down for an inspiring conversation with Canvas Rebel to discuss the impact that the EJS Project has in our community. "The journey into [the nonprofit world] began when I recognized the significant disparities faced by black minority kids, such as lower high school graduation rates, increased incarceration rates, and involvement in violent activities," Dupree says. "Witnessing these issues firsthand, I was determined to take action and create a platform that would address these challenges directly." 👉 Read the full article at: https://lnkd.in/ercwgSVB
