Supplementary essays are just as important as your main college essay! They provide a unique opportunity to go beyond the numbers and speak directly to admissions officers. Each college may have 1-3 supplementary essays, as well as short answer questions. Take all of these seriously and answer them thoughtfully. This is your chance to share information about yourself that is not readily available in your application. Approach each essay with care and effort. Avoid writing them in a perfunctory manner, as they can significantly impact your chances of admission. Dedicate time and attention to crafting compelling responses that showcase your strengths, personality, and fit for each school. #CollegeEssays #SupplementaryEssays #AdmissionsTips

It’s never too early to start collecting stories for college essays, and all your child needs is a notebook and a pen! But before you dismiss this because your child is only in the 10th grade, hear us out. “Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither will your child’s ability to confidently come up with ideas for their college essays.” That's why your sophomore should start their idea bank now! This idea bank should be a collection of potential topics, experiences, and stories that can serve as inspiration for future college application essays. By compiling this bank early on, students can explore various themes and narratives that may resonate with them when it's time to start writing their essays. This year, we're rolling out a new challenge called “30 in 30”. Every day in June, we'll post a new prompt on our CBA Writing Instagram page. Students who respond to all 30 prompts and submit their content will be entered into a raffle to receive two hours of essay support from one of our essay specialists! Join our mailing list for college admissions tips, resources, workshops, events and info about 30 in 30! Time and again, admissions folks have said that they want your college application to be authentic. That means being honest about your activities. It means letting your own voice come through in your essays. It means answering those short-answer prompts without trying to figure out what "they" want. Most of all, your essay needs to be yours alone. Don't let anyone rewrite it for you. Don't crowdsource the editing with your 10 smartest friends. It's fine to ask one trusted person to read it and give you suggestions, but if you hand it to three different people, you'll get three different opinions, and if you take all their advice, you will take your own voice right out of the essay.

Students spend lots of time and energy on their main Common Application essay and sometimes rush through their college-specific supplemental essays without much thought or care. ✍️ College admissions officers report that supplemental essays play an increasingly important role in the college application process. A supplemental essay is an extra essay beyond the personal statement or the primary application essay. 📝 Learn more about how the Educational Advocates team guides students in the college admissions & essay writing process: https://lnkd.in/eGJ_ssUQ #CommonApp #Essays #CollegeAdmissions #College
