As we wrap up Pride Month, we're grateful for the opportunities to help create a workplace where the 2SLGBTQIA community feels safe, celebrated and included, regardless of how they identify or who they love. Part of our ongoing commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion includes sponsoring a number of organizations and events like the Kingston Pride festival. #EmpireCares

Doing mahi that makes a difference
Rainbow Tick welcomes Alfie Prasad (top left), our newest Ringa Rehe Mōhio | Education Specialist and Kara Beckford (top right), our newest Ringa Rehe Whakamanatanga | Accreditation Specialist. On his role, Alfie (he/him) says “I'm such a visible part of our rainbow community and I like to leverage that to intentionally start conversations. I'm excited about creating safe learning environments to explore the challenges faced by rainbow employees in the workplace and bringing my own lived experience to these conversations.” On her role, Kara says “I am most looking forward to contributing to the mahi that Rainbow Tick do in the Accreditation space and being a part of a movement towards an indigenous and intersectional approach to rainbow advocacy in the workplace that acknowledges diversity and facilitates healthy spaces for rainbow people to show up fully and live their lives authentically.” If you work for an organisation that’s within the growing Rainbow Tick network but aren’t yet on our mailing list, get in touch at [email protected] to put that right. #diversity #inclusion #walkthetalk #visibility #intersectionality

Deputy Portfolio Director at the Office of Energy Research and Development (Canada Free Agent) - Leading technical teams in the Government of Canada.
Whether you are a public servant or not, this is a great month to celebrate, learn, and be an ally. What allyship looks like: -apologizing for not using someone's pronouns, and commiting to do better next time -sharing resources and events un support of the 2SLGBTQIA community -speaking up to correct homophobic and transphobic rhetoric, not matter who it comes from -creating safe spaces for 2SLGBTQIA -take initiative to learn -unlearn unconscious biases Other ideas? Share below!
Happy Public Service Pride Week! This is a time to celebrate the diversity and hard-fought victories of the 2SLGBTQIA communities within the public service. It’s also an opportunity to recognize public servants with intersecting experiences, including members of the Indigenous, Black, and racialized communities, as well as people with disabilities. Over the past five years, Public Service Pride Week has grown into a symbol of unity, inclusion, and progress. It is more than just a celebration; it’s a testament to our unity in serving all Canadians. It’s a time when we proudly showcase the diverse tapestry of individuals who form the backbone of our nation’s public service. Each one of us, as public servants, plays an important role in creating a more inclusive workplace. We must continue to champion diversity, challenge biases, and foster an environment where everyone feels safe and empowered to be their authentic selves. – Clerk Hannaford and Deputy Clerk Drouin

🌠 Helping nonprofit leaders turn strategic visioning into transformative, sustainable impact guided by innovation and inclusion. 🌠
👑Hey, Kings and Queens👑 Here's today's assignment✏️: Don’t Be So Certain! As we continue observing National Diversity Awareness Month, let's discover what makes us uniquely and wonderfully diverse. This month is an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate our differences, recognizing that our collective tapestry of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives enriches our world. The organizers behind this month hope we can better understand each other by celebrating our differences and similarities. It's about fostering empathy, respect, and appreciation for the myriad of cultures, beliefs and identities that make up our global community. When discussing topics related to #diversity, it is important to avoid making hasty judgments or feeling too confident about our current knowledge because there is always more to learn. Instead, let's engage in conversations with an open-minded attitude and a desire to gain knowledge. Let's acknowledge the discomfort of questioning our assumptions and strive to broaden our understanding of diversity and inclusion through genuine curiosity and empathy. #TodaysAssignment✏️ #DontBeSoCertain🤔 #RootCauseRacism®️💚❤✊🏽✊🏻 #O2TN1👣
