Constant Change .. A great day at the Disruptive Innovators Network (DIN) Digital and Data conference at the Salesforce Tower in London with my colleague Jack Holbrook. Thanks to Jason Wickens for hosting us. I took a moment to take in the view from the 36th floor and reflect on the (over) five years since I took the uncertain step of leaving BT Group. A time of big change for me and on reflection also BT. The BT city landscape has changed – with the old BT Centre at St. Paul’s in the process of being reinvented through reuse and innovation into a next-generation net-zero carbon office and the infamous BT Tower up for grabs as a hotel. In similar ways I think I’ve managed to re-use and reinvent and even innovate my skills and career over that time – from working independently to my time at Forrester and my latest and greatest role at Info-Tech Research Group. Like all change there were ups and downs and much learning along the way. One constant in that time is my engagement with the #socialhousing sector – from my first forays into the sector with the eminent Ian Wright 😊, collaborations with Housemark and the early incarnation of DIN, to my time as a NED at Accent Group Ltd. And the last year developing Curo's IT strategy. It was great to catch-up with housing colleagues from over the years and meet some new folks. With Infotech I didn’t expect this to continue but I realised there’s a lot we can help leaders in the sector with – Providing the blueprints, tools and expert guidance to enable them with the know-how, best practice and guidance to truly make change happen and to tackle those big topics (Data | Skills | AI). https://lnkd.in/eVGWqFHi From my experience that’s been a challenging gap to fill – It could be interesting to explore this idea further .....!

In the tech world, there’s sometimes a tendency to put all the focus on technology rather than the people using it. However, for digital transformation to succeed, it needs to put people right at the center of everything. We caught up with Laura Croudace, our Global Nonprofit Practice Director, to ask her thoughts on this: “Data-driven is a term used a lot in tech - and it’s an important principle. But here’s one that’s just as vital: people-powered. To make a profound and lasting difference, a client’s new technology solution needs to be driven by the people in their teams. Their real, everyday needs, their current working situations and aspirations, their unique ideas - all the things that only they know and only they can describe. What’s more, they will be the ones using your new solution - will they pick it up and make full use of it or reject it and find other ways to do things? So, it’s incredibly important to make sure your technology investment will be embraced by users, that they feel it’s something positive they can get excited about, and it’s something they’ll want to keep on evolving to be even more useful to them as time passes.
