Perfect alignment with the Saur group's strategy in Portugal, where we work in a very targeted way to improve the environmental performance of industries. #saur #aquapor #missionwater "The IED revision and upcoming BREF revisions place increased requirements on industry to manage its emissions as well as resource use, working in cohesion with other EU Green Deal legislation like the Water Framework Directive and the CSRD."

Opposing teams line up for next week’s MEPC. The eighty-first session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) will take place next week where the focus will be on developing legally-binding measures to ensure last year’s milestone agreement to phase out greenhouse gases (GHG) from shipping by 2050 is made possible. The task at hand is to translate the net-zero by 2050 “ambition” of last year’s diplomatic agreement into concrete action with plenty of competing visions on how this can be achieved. At this week’s preliminary GHG talks at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) ahead of MEPC small island states ramped up pressure for the adoption of a global carbon price on international shipping.

➡ EU's resource reduction and circular economy took a big step in the right direction today! 📉 The Environmental Council Conclusions on the Environmental Action Programme (EAP), noted that current frameworks will not be enough to reduce unsustainable consumption levels and achieve the objectives of the EAP. The Council calls on the European Commission to assess the establishment of an EU long-term objective for sustainable resource use. 🏆 Although imperfect, this outcome is welcomed and in line with demands voiced in our open letter on Sustainable Resources Management, signed by 100 orgs: https://lnkd.in/dTMzJ7Et #circulareconomy #resourceuse #europeanunion #climateaction

The EU Parliament Scoreboard looks at the individual voting behaviour of every MEP during the 2019-2024 legislative term and scores them against the voting recommendations of the five European environmental organisations. This provides a measure of each MEPs commitment to environmental sustainability – with the result being a score out of 100. Results are aggregated in the scoreboard for political groups and national parties represented in the European Parliament. The scoring assesses voting behaviour across 30 policy files, comprising key climate, energy and environmental legislation. 12 policy files focused on a climate-neutral and socially just transition, 8 focused on a nature-positive Europe, and 10 focused on the circular economy and achieving zero pollution. #euelections #useyourvote #votefutureeu
