Is our view on healthcare changing? 🧐 Amid prolonged emergency room wait times and staffing shortages, a new Ipsos poll conducted for Global News found that many Canadians are willing to head south in search of timely health care, even if it means paying out of pocket. For this survey, 1,001 Canadians aged 18 were interviewed and it showed that many of the respondents were also receptive to the idea of private health care if the goal is to alleviate some of the pressure from the health system overall. Respondents were also very optimistic about the adoption of virtual care; a trend that has accelerated since the pandemic. So much so that 79% supported the expansion of virtual care! These trends overall indicate that Canadians value convenience and timeliness to access quality care the most. Do you think the integration of technology and AI powered solutions can help solve some of these challenges? Comment 👇🏼 #PublicHealth #HealthTrends

https://lnkd.in/gF582r-W Literally BILLIONs has been spent on this by successive governments both federal and provincial for DECADES...and this is where we are. May 40 percent of Cdns having access to their health records (and that is incredibly generous). these are not technical constraints.Time to move the vested induatry and professional interests out and let a citizen committee oversee and drive this process perhaps? Legislation is just a start.

Individuals battling chronic illnesses in Uganda often face multifaceted challenges. Limited access to consistent healthcare, especially in rural areas, poses a significant hurdle. Affordability of medications and medical consultations becomes a pressing concern, exacerbating the burden on patients. Moreover, the lack of widespread awareness contributes to delayed diagnosis, hindering early intervention. Stigma surrounding certain chronic conditions can lead to isolation and impact mental well-being. This is where telehealth emerges as a crucial solution, breaking down barriers to medical assistance. Telehealth not only addresses geographical constraints but also provides a lifeline for those in remote areas, ensuring they receive timely medical advice and monitoring. Let’s unite in promoting awareness, advocating for better healthcare infrastructure, and emphasizing the importance of integrating telehealth to empower individuals in managing chronic conditions effectively. #chronicillnessawareness #HealthEquityUG

Today, Canada introduced introduced Bill C-72 - the Connected Care for Canadians Act. This Act is about enabling Canadians to securely access their own health data, which will empower patient's decision-making and improve the care they receive from health providers in Canada. It outlines Canada's plan to enable a modern, connected care system, in which health information can be securely accessed by patients and shared between providers, when needed. Canadians – both patients and providers – should be able to access their health information simply, securely, and digitally. Yet today, less than 40% of Canadians report accessing some of their health information electronically and only 35% of physicians share patient information outside their practice.

At the end of 2019, there were 16,722 general practitioners (GPs) in Belgium, with an annual increase of 1.22%, though slightly lower than the 1.56% rise in specialist practitioners. Given the demographic age shift of the Belgian population and further expected population growth (plus 12% towards 13 million people by 2070) – will the availability of GPs be sufficient? A rise in complex and chronic ailments among the elderly will require more and more attention from GPs. Furthermore, additional themes such as burn-out and psychological accompaniment require GPs to play an even greater role as a first point of contact for their patients. There seems to be a disconnect between the rising demand for GPs in certain regions of the country and the insufficient number of doctors to meet these demands in the future. Belgium therefore requires a reevaluation of their roles and infrastructure (e.g., telemedicine, AI-powered tools) to improve all regions, keeping the notion that GPs should be able to provide value-added individual care to those in critical need.
