"It takes a village to raise responsible children.'' That's why I accepted the invitation of Feyikemi Zion Olujere to speak to boys between 8 - 16 years last Saturday. I enjoyed speaking at The Teens Breakfast Meeting organised by The Ambassadors Teens Network, at Redemption City, a.k.a Redemption Camp. Our conversation was on the topic: "Young Men As Saviours." The crux of my message was that it's not too early for the boys to become responsible and start adding value to the world. I encouraged the boys to: 📍Discover their purpose 📍Develop their gifts, and 📍Deploy their gifts to serve people, solve problems and bring succour to people. Beyond your professional endeavours, be intentional about giving back to the younger generation. That's one way to make the world a better place. How do you give back to the younger generation? When was the last time that we set an example for our children about… 👉 Giving and not expecting anything in return? So, let’s talk about the act of generosity. When our children see us giving joyfully, without any acknowledgment, and when done quietly, this sparks a conversation with your children that the real gift is in giving, not getting. And they play a part not only in making an individual’s life better with one generous act but also in developing a positive and supportive environment for everyone around them. This can lead them to: 1) Build stronger relationships 2) Be actively involved in the community 3) Be optimistic as they watch small actions make a positive impact. When they see that the gifts you give may go a long way in a person’s life, ❌ You don’t do it for recognition. ✅ You do it because leaders love others. In family and family businesses, it’s important to educate the next generation about the things that matter. Start the process when the kids are significantly younger than you think may be appropriate. One way of doing this is to give children or grandchildren a small monetary allocation each year and have them collectively decide where and how they want to spent it. The chair rotates annually. A am age appropriate proposal with rational and supporting documentation must be presented to the senior generation. Each year the organizational recipient must change. This teaches problem solving, communication, community involvement, the ability to develop a comprehensive and persuasive argument, understanding that money is finite and why giving parameters are important. #family #familybusiness #conflict #communication #bestpractices #philanthropy #education #heirpreparedness

You probably underestimate the power of your education. Almost 60 million children around the world aren’t currently getting a basic primary education. That’s roughly 1 in 12 children worldwide. How beautiful it is when women like can get the chance to catch-up on an education as an adult. Rajna is in secondary school. Her education was kickstarted when a project funded by people like you set up a school in her village. She’s making progress and using her knowledge to teach others.. a multiplier effect in action.
