LETTER-WRITING CAMPAIGN: The American Psychiatric Association must lead the way for change. - - - Two options, with the help of a form letter, make it easy. The first option involves simply submitting basic contact information — used for identity verification purposes — and the printing/mailing is done on your behalf, free of charge. If you’d like to share more, there’s an opportunity to include that, as well. - - WHY WRITE THE APA? The mental and emotional struggles of post-traumatic stress (PTS) are actually the result of a biological change — observable and measurable in the brain of survivors. This is a relatively new understanding, and one where the intertwining of mental and physical health is especially evident. Thus, to change the way we think and talk about PTS (as an “injury”), we must look to the medical discipline of psychiatry for leadership, namely the American Psychiatric Association (APA). If someone you care about has been diagnosed with depression, is showing symptoms, or is just feeling down, knowing how to respond is key. The Carson Valley Health Outpatient Behavioral Health team has two suggestions to support someone with mental illness. Do: Listen to support not to fix: most people want to be heard as opposed to having their issues solved. If you are not sure, you can gently ask “How can I support you with this?” Be kind: All of us have very different ways of interpreting a situation, some have built a better tolerance for stress than others. Try not to overshadow someone’s experience by thinking that their reaction is not warranted. You can ask “It sounds like this is very difficult for you, how can I help?” Our Outpatient Behavioral Health psychiatry providers and licensed therapists provide high quality, compassionate, and comprehensive mental health care for patients of all ages. USPSTF Recommends Anxiety Screening Anxiety screening is the first step in helping patients get the help they need. Treatment may include psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, cognitive therapy, or a combination of treatments. All patients who test positive should be able to get the necessary treatment they need. Early prevention is always the best medicine, and with these latest USPSTF recommendations, primary care providers have the opportunity to save lives. If warranted, primary care providers may initiate behavioral health integration services, as well, reported with the following Psychiatric Collaborative Care Management Services codes: 📌99492 Initial psychiatric collaborative care management, first 70 minutes … 📌99493 Subsequent psychiatric collaborative care management, first 60 minutes … 📌 99494 Initial or subsequent psychiatric collaborative care management, each additional 30 minutes … These services include collaboration between the treating (billing) practitioner (primary care provider) and other providers such as a psychiatric consultant (trained in psychiatry and qualified to prescribe medication), behavioral healthcare manager (social worker, nurse), and the patient. The primary care provider/team observes and adjustments treatment, medications, and referrals as they see fit. Documentation should include all pertinent care team communications. Collab topic : oppositional defiant : definition : Children with ODD have consistent behavior patterns which include being argumentative and defiant towards parents and other figures of authority. This is a different condition to Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) where the drive to avoid demands is related to anxiety. SYMPTOMS : Having frequent temper tantrums. Arguing a lot with adults. Refusing to do what an adult asks. Always questioning rules and refusing to follow rules. Doing things to annoy or upset others, including adults. Blaming others for the child's own misbehaviors or mistakes. Being easily annoyed by others. CAUSES : Oppositional Defiant Disorder Causes According to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, studies have found brain defects or injuries can cause behavioral problems in children. There is also enough evidence to suggest ODD is linked to abnormal brain function. TREATMENT : CBT-based anger management training is useful in treating anger problems in children with ODD. In older children, problem-solving skills training and perspective-taking are helpful therapy strategies. Family-focused therapy: This therapy is for children with ODD and their caregivers #RaiseAgainstAutism #PinnacleSaysItAll #PinnacleBloomsNetwork #1AutismTherapyCentresNetwork

Of the nearly 1 in 10 adults suffering from Major Depressive Disorder, nearly one-third struggle with treatment-resistant depression (TRD), meaning traditional antidepressants don’t, and won’t, work for them. According to a study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, TRD alone causes employees to miss roughly 36 days per year, putting a strain on today's workforce. Fortunately, psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) has been shown to be a promising alternative for individuals seeking relief from TRD. That's why, at TARA Mind, we are partnering with employers to add the TARA Mind Provider Network as a supplemental benefit to their existing health plans – just like vision or dental. To learn more about how we're working with employers, visit taramind.com/employers. #majordepression #treatmentresistance #treatmentresistantdepression #depressionsupport #psychedelictherapy #supplementalbenefit
