Since it’s #Worldbrailleday I thought I would share some interesting ( hopefully) braille facts. firstly Numbers - have you seen braille in lifts/elevators? Numbers in braille are the same as letters in braille so a=1, b=2, c=3, d=4 all the way up to j= 0. But hang on! How do you differentiate between letters and numbers then? Ah so that’s when the numeral indicator comes in this looks like a backward capital L this has to be before any numbers written so if I were writing the number 507 I would write the numeral indicator then ‘ejg’. The photo below demonstrates this in a real life situation.

Choosing chambers is hard. Its not as straightforward as some may think. Big pupillage award, that must be the best place. Not necessarily. As I have been choosing my chambers, I have considered those which I have had the benefit of a mini pupillage with. I have also looked at the chambers that can actually provide what I want in terms of the early stages of a career, support, type of work and realistic prospect of a successful application. By doing this I have found the question of, why do you want to join our chambers much easier to answer.

What would you tell to your medieval self about your work? Back in the Middle Ages (approx. 450-1450 AD), the most common jobs were e.g. those of a butcher, stone mason, baker, weaver, carpenter, blacksmith, minstrel or so. How would you explain your modern day job to your medieval self? What is the similar job of those days? If not literally, then based on its commonality? #medieval #middleages #time #job #work #profession
