One of the advantages of trailers with extended chassis is that they can load longer items, such as pipes, beams, tanks ,or logs, that would otherwise not fit in a standard trailer. Another benefit is that they can retract to a normal length when not carrying long loads, which makes them easier to maneuver and park. Trailers with extended chassis are therefore versatile and convenient for transporting different types of cargo.

Stripped & Strapped Pipe Securement Tips from Steelhorse Freight Services Inc. Proper load securement is critical for safety on the road. Here are some key tips to keep your pipe secure: 1. Check Your Straps: Ensure all straps are free of rips or tears before use. A quarter inch tear is deemed out of service. 2. Use Dunnage: Place dunnage underneath and between each layer of pipe before loading. 3. Strap Placement: Place two straps on every layer of pipe, securing from opposite sides. On the first and last 10 feet of the load, use two straps; thereafter, use one strap every 10 feet over top of the load. 4. Inside Rub Rails: All tie-downs and other parts of the cargo securement system should be inside rub rails when practical. Use edge protection to prevent wear and cutting. 5. Working Load Limit: the total WLL of your securement system must be at least half the weight of the load as per DOT standards; however, 75% of the load weight is preferred for optimal safety. Stay safe out there and keep those loads secure! #SteelhorseFreight #TruckSafety #LoadSecurement Unit 341, Miliard, demonstrating proper load securement techniques.
