OakTree Power celebrates the women who ignite inspiration, leadership, and collaboration in an innovation-driven energy landscape. We continue to celebrate International Women's Day in this series that gives due recognition to the women in our team who push for brighter horizons.
Melanie Dayus shares how REFLECTING ON PERSONAL VALUES drives a better horizon in the energy industry as a Head of Commercial Projects
🌱 How do you view the opportunity to advocate for energy efficiency in big businesses as a person that stands up for your own values and principles?☀ I find it inspiring to champion energy efficiency initiatives within companies, particularly when it comes to optimising Building Management Systems which deal with unnecessary energy wastage on a daily basis. I see great potential for positive change in embracing smarter energy management which benefits both the bottom line and broader societal and environmental values.
🌱 Can you tell us about a moment in your career where you gained valuable insights or influenced a significant decision and how did this shape your personal approach in your current role?
☀ Moving from big corporate to a start-up was definitely a turning point for me. Experiencing the direct impact of my decisions taught me valuable lessons in project management and decision-making but moreover, honed my abilities in being flexible to achieve success.
🌱 How do you integrate your personal values with the daily demands of your professional life?
☀ I actively prioritise supporting others in both my personal and professional life by striving to create an atmosphere where everyone feels valued and supported. I listen to my friends and colleagues and give my best to provide well-rounded advice that adds value to their needs.
