Join us July 3rd at the Stuttgart International Symposium! Our own, Pavithra Kumaraswamy and Andrei Rus, will discuss the critical importance of securing global time in vehicle E/E architecture. This synchronized global time is essential for safety-critical, security-critical, and time-critical applications. Cybersecurity attacks on global time can lead to false time, accuracy degradation, and Denial of service, significantly impacting vehicle availability, robustness, and road user safety, as outlined in IETF RFC 7384. While AUTOSAR defines architecture and detailed specifications for the integrated security mechanisms “Secured Global Time Synchronization (SGTS)" on automotive networks (CAN, FlexRay, Ethernet), external mechanisms like MACsec on the Ethernet network which protect all communication frames (at layer 2) also exist. Our latest paper 24STUT-0004 • presents the experimental data to demonstrate the impact on the precision of global time with SGTS and MACsec. • describes the constraints that prevent applying the SGTS and/or MACsec on an Ethernet network. • emphasizes the tradeoff between security and precise global time when using SGTS and/or MACsec on an Ethernet network. Don't miss out on this insightful session! Register now, seating limited: https://lnkd.in/eSqMvZNA #Elektrobit #AutomotiveIndustry #FKFSInternationalSymposium #SDV #softwaredefinedvehicles
