📢 Big day! Well, at least for me 🍍 Because today I was voted in as #boardmember of Plastindustrien. As a company helping around 50 people every second (yes, you read that right) manage intimate healthcare needs, Coloplast knows that single-use plastics can be a force for good. Still, there is work to be done to reduce our industry’s #climatefootprint and improve its #circularity. I’m humbled by the show of faith and thrilled to help drive this work through Plastindustrien, an organization strongly anchored in Danish industry with participation across the plastics value chain. Friuli supports Self Group acquisition of the US Avantech Self Groups one of the main companies in Italy is a manufacturer of thermoforming molds for plastic materials, has finalized the agreement to acquire total control of Avantech a leading company in the United States in the design of rotational molds in the plastic sector, and thus expands its business overseas. The operation, with an expected total value of close to 8 million euros, was also possible thanks to the contribution of FRIUL FILIERE spa, the finance company of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, which contributed with a total investment of 1.5 million. The acquisition is part of Self Group’s medium-long term strategy, aimed at continuous growth both organically and externally, creating one of the largest groups in the sector which today can count on an aggregate turnover of approximately 14 million euro. In the last 2 years, Self Group has embarked on a process of renewing its machinery, spending more than 2 million euros in the purchase of specific equipment for processing large moulds. Thanks to this investment it was therefore possible to double production, which went from about 450 pieces of equipment to about 950 per year. ✅ Project Complete! ✅ Brunel Innovation Centre (BIC) participated in the remote closure meeting for the Sentio project! In attendance were representatives from Innovate UK and all our esteemed consortium partners: Impact Solutions, McLaren Plastics Limited, and Coda Octopus Martech along with AHMED TEYEB from BIC. This meeting was an invaluable opportunity to summarize the key activities and findings of our ambitious project. The Sentio project aimed to enhance #bioplastic injection moulding through #ultrasonic power, focusing on improving the material properties and #manufacturing efficiency of biopolymers. Our research specifically targeted the challenges of managing heat resistance, thermal degradation, and extended cooling times in bioplastic production. Key findings presented at the meeting demonstrated the significant impact of #ultrasonic processing during injection moulding on the Glass Transition Temperature and Biodegradation Rate of biopolymers. These advancements promise to revolutionize the #bioplastic #manufacturing industry by improving material properties and supporting #environmental #sustainability.
