TECHNOLOGY OUTLOOK: CONSULTANCY Roland Berger HAS RELEASED THEIR 2024 INNOVATION INDICATOR - SWITZERLAND IS (AGAIN) IN THE POLE POSITION. In general, small countries, like Singapore and Denmark have achieved high rankings. Roland Berger's homeland Germany has somewhat declined in the rankings - now only in the top 3 for sustainability. With all this said, Germany still came out ahead of the U.S. and China in the indicator's rankings. How accurate are such indicators? They always come with a margin of error and somewhat reflect their authors' priorities - yet they certainly show trends. Together with Roland Berger, this report has been published by BDI - Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie e.V., Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI and ZEW - Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research - which explains a certain focus on Germany. #technology #innovation #sustainability #greentech #greentechnologies #ev #evs #bev #bevs #electricvehicle #electricvehicles #electricmobility #emobility #greenmobility #sustainablemobility #urbanmobility #smartmobility #futuremobility #newmobility #mobility #automotive #automotiveengineering #automotivetechnology #automotiveindustry #alternativeenergy #emissions #emissionscontrol #emissionsreduction #zeroemissions #zev #decarbonization #automotiveproduction #production #manufacturing #indicator #outlook #2024outlook #switzerland #germany #bundesrepublik #deutschland #global #world

The health sector, synonymous with pioneering advancements, is currently going through a transformative evolution catalyzed by the infusion of cutting-edge technologies tailored for medical waste management. Medical waste, a broad category encompassing various items, has consistently represented a tremendous challenge. The intricacy, however, is gradually diminishing thanks to recent technological innovations that are streamlining the management of such waste to not only be more efficient but also sustainable and eco-conscious. In this WasteRecycling magazine article, Elsa J. Brown, president of Bondtech Corporation, highlights some of these technological innovations: https://lnkd.in/gbjuwJxm

Share your input on the Potential EIC Accelerator Challenge on Advanced Materials! Eager to enhance support for SMEs, the EC is currently considering an EIC Accelerator Challenge on Advanced Materials that would be jointly funded between the (soon to be) partnership on Advanced Materials (IAM4EU) and the EIC, potentially as early as in the Work Programme 2025 of Horizon Europe. This initiative aligns with the recent policy communications on Advanced Materials for Industrial Leadership. The proposed topic is anticipated to be broad enough to accommodate activities across the materials value chain. This includes materials design, production, processing, use, recovery, recycling, and re-use, with a focus on enabling and enhancing resilience and circularity within strategic industrial value chains through safe and sustainable innovative advanced materials and associated technologies. Advanced Materials 2030 Initiative is now looking for input from SMEs, clusters, associations, organizations bringing together SMEs, or large companies active in corporate VC. Complete the survey by the 10th of May to ensure your insights are included. #AdvancedMaterials #SSbD #IRISS_SSbD

Boosting multi-stakeholder innovation as Innovation Officer EU at Ghent University - EnerGhentIC, Machineries & Factories and Metals Business Development Centers
"De-industrialization would mean the end of the European Union." This bold statement stuck with me after the European Manufacturing Conference 2024 (#EMC2024) in Brussels, jointly organized by EIT Manufacturing, EFFRA, and Manufuture ETF (European Technology Platform). Is EU really risking de-industrialization? And what to do about it? The EU is still in a strong position but its industrial sector faces serious challenges that need urgent attention. In this respect, the recent Draghi-report was the talk of the town during the different sessions focusing on the future competitiveness of EU industry. Some take-aways and questions I took home: 🚀 Europe needs to step up its game to match the US and China in innvation. Public investment in technology and talent is crucial, but mobilizing private capital is just as important. It's about translating research excellence into real-world impact, which - of course - also resonates personally. 🌱 While reducing carbon emissions presents a challenge for industry, it's also a chance to enhance industrial competitiveness. Harmonizing both objectives will be key and costs will be a main driver. Should we consider cheaper industrial electricity, cost benefits for R&D? Or will defragmentation in decision-making help in speeding up the transition? 🌍 The EU needs a foreign economic policy. Securing access to critical raw materials and technologies is vital, but this shouldn’t turn into pure protectionism as this would be counterproductive. But security goes beyond materials & technology—it’s also about defense. Should we look at lowering the fence between civil and defense research? Lots of food for thought. Luckily, the event was not only an opportunity for deep insights but also for some great networking and exploring how we could jointly – academia, industry & policy-making – contribute to the goal of keeping Europe at the forefront of Industrial leadership. 🤝 #EuropeanManufacturing #Innovation #Competitiveness #Decarbonization #IndustrialLeadership

Next Big Innovation Labs®is a working group member and contributor to World Economic Forum's latest white paper "Accelerating the Global Transition to a Bio-based Economy: The Strategic Role of Policy". The paper explores how policy has been a catalyst in vital sectors which includes an area of focus for us, advancing #Humanhealth 🩺. Through personalised testing solutions and bio-manufactured tissues, outcomes of innovation in the field of #TissueEngineering & #RegenerativeMedicine, we have been able to push the limits towards creating personalised tissues on demand. However, without the right policy promoting deep technological solutions such as #TRIVIMA Bioprinters, the job is only half-done. This is a start towards deeper engagement with policy makers to help them advance policy and regulation to keep pace with Innovation. 📥 Download the full paper to learn how policy can unlock the potential of a sustainable, resilient bio-based economy: https://lnkd.in/eqbyJQnT #Bioeconomy #Bioprinting #Innovation #Sustainability #Policy #wefpartners
