As Mental Health Week approaches, running from May 6th to May 12th, I'm honored to join hands with the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) in championing mental wellness in the workplace. This year, our focus on compassion couldn't be more timely or crucial. Supporting the HR function throughout my career and raising two children, I'm acutely aware of the profound impact our actions and attitudes can have on those around us. Compassion isn't merely a feel-good sentiment; it's a powerful force for healing and transformation. In the workplace, it means extending a helping hand to colleagues in need, offering a listening ear without judgment, and creating a culture where everyone feels valued and supported. World Mental Health Day is celebrated on October 10th every year to raise awareness of mental health issues and to encourage people to seek help if they need it. The theme for 2023, set by the World Foundation of Mental Health, is ‘Mental health is a universal human right’.
