Our 2024 Run for Something strategic plan is out! In a nutshell: We’re continuing our broad and deep work with young diverse progressives running for state and local office — especially for school boards, local election administrator roles and positions that may affect abortion access — because it’s never mattered more. Short-term, it will be critical for the survival of our democracy to have incredible local candidates knocking doors, talking to voters, and generating excitement (also known as “reverse coattails”) during an election that may otherwise feel like a bit of a downer. Long-term, we’re continuing to build the recruitment and support infrastructure that will enable sustainable power at every level, and stop extremists from taking over schools, cities, and state capitols. We need greater representation of young people at the policy-making level of every society

If you have no yet heard of Project 2025 it is time to educate yourself! the end of what is left of #Democracy is near.... Biden is already doing what he said Trump would do but things are gonna get a lot worse.... Project 2025 seeks to place the entire Executive Branch of the U.S. federal government under direct presidential control, eliminating the independence of the DOJ, the Federal Communications Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, and other agencies. These pro-democracy measures noted in the article transformed Michigan politics: In 2022, the distribution of seats finally followed the popular vote totals under new maps drawn by the Citizens Redistricting Commission. The state set a record for voter turnout in a midterm, with the country's highest participation rate among young voters. Michigan became a blueprint for how a state can shift from minority rule to majority rule.

Very happy to share that my most significant piece so far, "Political Equality and Epistemic Constraints on Voting" is now out in Philosophy and Public Affairs, open access. It constructs a non-instrumental case for modest constraints on voting procedures, offering what is to my knowledge the only alternative to standard epistocratic views in the literature. https://lnkd.in/dnA6Tvjy

The next POTUS will be decided by a majority of White women. Media have ignored the impact of White women on elections for generations. Yet, White women represent the largest demographic voting bloc in America. And a majority of White women consistently vote polar opposite of the majority of Black women, who represent the largest voting bloc of nonwhite groups.
