Teaching Assistant, Department of Political Science, National University of Singapore | NUS Philosophy, Politics and Economics '23
Today NUS begins its series of Commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2024. Many in this batch started their journeys in the depths of Covid-19, back in August 2020 during Phase 2 of Singapore's gradual reopening. Their university lives began on a muted note, plagued with Zoom orientations and welcome teas - makeshift substitutes for the "best time of their lives". Some spent their entire first semester or more on Zoom, forced to learn in front of screens and with classmates seen only in pixels (if cameras were even on). As normalcy returned, they eventually got to experience some of what university should have been, though some lost time could never be recovered. Frustrating as it must have been, their trials have shaped them as a cohort and strengthened their resilience in the face of adversity - a defining attribute which Commencement 2024 will surely celebrate. And just as it was when they arrived, they graduate now with higher education grappling with another revolution (generative AI) that is already transforming how humanity works and plays. They face a world beset with geopolitical tensions and economic disruption, full of uncertainty about what lies ahead. It would not be easy being the Class of 2024 - it wasn't easy four years ago, and it's certainly not easy now. But we can have hope they will make the best of what they encounter, equipped with the resilience to forge their own paths, the same resilience which got them through university. Congratulations Class of 2024 - over the past four years, you've written a story that few other cohorts could ever replicate. Now it's time to turn the page and write your next chapter.

#Get to Know Our Partner Universities In the GTIME program, each student spends their first year at Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) in #Hamburg and then continues their studies at one of our partner universities. Tampere University (TAU), located in Finland, joined the GTIME program in 2022 as a second-year partner. #TAU ranked 34th in the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings for 2022. At TAU, students have the opportunity to specialize in Value-Driven Technology Business Development. The teaching in this specialization integrates technology management, sales and finance management, and value creation and communication, complementing the learning content of the first year of GTIME studies. The courses at TAU focus on value creation, quantification, communication, and capture. They provide a solid understanding of how organizations successfully create, quantify, communicate, and capture value in various contexts, and how to creatively apply this knowledge in different organizational settings. #GTIME #PartnerUniversities #TampereUniversity #ValueDriven #TechnologyBusiness #HigherEducation #YoungUniversities #TechnologyManagement #SalesManagement #FinanceManagement #ValueCreation #Communication #OrganizationalContexts

【‘Fun Together!’ Glamping: MSCSJTU & MIF】 On April 14th 2024, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Malaysian Students Council (MSCSJTU) and Malaysians In Fudan (MIF) cooperated in organizing a glamping event. The event aimed to deepen the friendship and understanding between students from both schools and to promote academic exchanges. On the day of the event, students from both schools arrived at the reserved restaurant in the evening. To create a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere, the restaurant was warmly and elegantly decorated. Students took their seats and looked forward to the upcoming activities. As the speeches of the presidents of both sides came to an end, the atmosphere of the whole event was pushed to a climax. The enthusiasm of the students was ignited, and they were all involved in the following game, which is called ‘The Megaphone Game’. Students were divided into several groups, each group stood in a line, the first person began to whisper a sentence to the next person, and so on, until the last person repeated loudly what he heard. This game not only tested the tacit understanding and communication ability of the students, but also brought endless laughter and fun to all of the participants. After that, students had a memorable dinner time. While enjoying the food, students talked freely and exchanged their learning experience, interesting life stories, as well as their visions for future development. This activity not only brought students of the two schools closer to each other, but also left them with wonderful and valuable memories. ‘Fun Together!’ is the theme of this glamping event. It is the best explanation of this activity and the expectation of future cooperation and exchange. We are looking forward to the future, where the two schools can explore more cooperation opportunities. This glamping activity is not only a simple networking event, but also a testimony of the friendship between the two schools. It marks a wonderful beginning and foretells more wonderful cooperation and exchanges in the future. All in all, this MIFxMSCSJTU glamping event was held successfully and brought an unforgettable experience to all of the participants. It deepened the friendship and understanding between the students of both schools, and also created wonderful and valuable memories for them. We look forward to the future, where the two schools can continue to work together and write a more unforgettable chapter together. #collegelife #universitylife #studyingabroad #studyinchina #sjtu #malaysia #mif #glamping
