In a competitive market where many parents seek 'academic excellence' from their schools, top schools can attract new parents even when they are satisfied with their current school. According to a recent survey conducted by BVA BDRC, 44% of those switching #internationalschools were generally satisfied with their former school but sought more from the next one. The key factors encouraging the switch were better academics (75%), including higher performance or academic reputation, a wider range of subjects and co-curricular activities (CCAs), or a preferred curriculum. Better facilities in the new school influenced 45% of parents to switch, particularly for sports rather than arts, and for access to more ‘high tech’ learning facilities. Additionally, 30% of parents switched due to better support services at the new school, such as pastoral care and counseling services, support for learning differences, or language support. With most switching occurring in secondary years, schools that can facilitate pathways to higher education in preferred countries is also a consideration in choosing the new school. In the next BVA BDRC Asia brand equity survey in September, we will assess the demand for various curricula across the international school markets in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, including for #internationalbaccalaureate, UK, US, and Australian curricula, as well as demand for languages.

The fourth edition of the 2023 World Economic Forum, #futureofjobs Survey brought together the perspective of 803 companies – collectively employing more than 11.3 million workers – across 27 industry clusters and 45 economies from all world regions found that over 85% of organizations surveyed identify increased adoption of new and frontier technologies and broadening digital access as the trends most likely to drive transformation in their organization. To ensure Malaysia moves in tandem with the above findings, the National Digital Education Policy will be launched to ensure digital fluency among teachers and students. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said that to ensure the policy's success, the Education Ministry is now focusing on improving infrastructure and streamlining the digital ecosystem in schools. About the Roundtable This specially curated roundtable will bring together around 80 leaders from the tech, EdTech, corporate CSRs, education providers and government sectors in Malaysia to network, share ideas, and engage in a critical discourse focusing on strengthening the STEM ecosystem for our students. This session seeks to foster a collaborative community of EdTech players, corporates, and education service providers to identify and explore potential collaborations. This event is proudly brought to you by Hap Seng Consolidated Berhad, a distinguished publicly listed company with a steadfast dedication to enhancing education in Malaysia, especially in the realm of STEM. In collaboration with Edvolution Enterprise, Hap Seng is determined to collaborate with diverse stakeholders within the STEM education sector and the Malaysia Ministry of Education to establish a robust STEM community. 🌈 "Singapore's Transformative Education Reforms ↔ A Global Call to Embrace Holistic Learning." Though it's an old update but but sharing it again, as now is the high time for the #world to realize and replicate the same. Singapore, a shining beacon of educational #excellence, has taken a remarkable step forward in #redefining the #purpose of #education. By announcing the decision that "Learning Is Not A Competition," Singapore has declared its commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals rather than simply producing high-scoring students. With the elimination of student rankings based on exam results, Singapore is leading the way towards a holistic approach to education that prioritizes #socialdevelopment, self-awareness, and engaged learning. As the world looks upon Singapore's progressive reforms, it's time for nations across the globe to follow suit and recognize the importance of a well-rounded education in shaping the #leaders of tomorrow. Reported by -World Economic Forum (https://lnkd.in/dwDTCAKe) 📓 Breaking Free from #Academic Pressures: Singapore's decision to abolish exams for primary years one and two, as well as removing mid-year exams for older students, signals a significant shift away from the intense academic pressures that students often face. By creating a #learning environment that #encourages self-discovery, engagement, and meaningful assessment methods, Singapore recognizes that academic excellence alone does not guarantee success in life. The island state is setting an example for the world by emphasizing the importance of nurturing students' social development, self-awareness, and decision-making skills alongside academic achievement. ✍ Fostering Lifelong Learning #Attitudes: In a rapidly evolving world, where #knowledge and #skills become obsolete faster than ever, it is essential to cultivate a love for learning that transcends the confines of the classroom. Singapore's educational revolution aims to do just that by providing more time and space for student-centered #teaching and learning approaches. By nurturing a culture of lifelong learning, Singapore is equipping its #students with the #curiosity, #adaptability, and #resilience needed to navigate the challenges and #opportunities of the #future. This approach serves as a powerful reminder to the world that education should be a transformative #journey, enabling individuals to grow and evolve throughout their lives. 🌏 A #Global Call to #Action: Singapore's bold move in reimagining education serves as an inspiration for nations worldwide. As we witness the transformation taking place in Singapore's classrooms, it is imperative for other countries to reassess their own education systems and embrace holistic learning. By shifting the focus , nations can unlock the full potential of their students and empower them to become #compassionate, #innovative, and socially responsible #globalcitizens. Singapore has decided to stop comparing students' grades with each other. This is redesigning educational practices that will contribute to a continually evolving, healthy learning ecosystem. I believe shifting the focus of assessment away from grades and towards more meaningful understandings of intellectual growth can encourage students as well as teachers and institutions to attend to the primary goal of education, focusing on teamwork and personal progress instead of who gets the best grades. During my time in secondary or high school , every term ended with our parents checking our grades and our class ranking. This was normal, but it could really make you not want to go back to school. It felt like the grades were saying "your best wasn't good enough". Plus, we had to take 10 or more subjects, which was a lot. If your younger sibling gets better grades than you, suddenly you're labelled the less smart one in the family😊. I hope this new approach could inspire other countries especially in Africa to think differently about education, making it more about helping each student in their own journey. Do you see Singapore's approach to redesigning education as a positive change? #africandevelopment #educationinnovation #schooldesign #education #learningisfun #schools #parents #teachers

Singapore has taken a significant step in removing comparison from their Schools while focusing on personal development parameters. Africa also, needs to decolonise its educational system which currently programmes students to be job-seekers, by incorporating the traditional apprenticeship goals of developing solution-driven business leaders. Doesn't make sense that after obtaining several degrees, the best you can do is, " I beg to apply ", while skilled apprentices become business leaders after their training and are smiling to the bank much faster than graduates... #apprenticeship #entrepreneurship

Is Malaysian Education Really #ASEAN's Worst? Let's Talk 🇲🇾 We've all seen the headlines: Malaysia, trailing behind in ASEAN's education game. While it's tempting to label our system the "worst," let's dig deeper than rankings and understand the WHY. Here are some potential factors behind the stumble: ▶ Pandemic learning losses: School closures hit us hard, disproportionately impacting vulnerable communities. ▶ Rote learning vs. critical thinking: Is our system fostering curiosity and problem-solving? ▶ Teacher-student ratio & support: Can overburdened teachers truly give each child the attention they deserve? ▶ Equity and access gaps: Does everyone have a fair shot at quality education, regardless of background? So, how do we bridge the gap ❓ ☞ Invest in holistic learning: Go beyond rote memorization, nurture creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. ☞ Empower teachers: Provide robust training, resources, and manageable workloads. ☞ Embrace technology: Use digital tools to personalize learning, bridge access gaps, and make education more engaging. ☞ Prioritize early childhood education: Lay a strong foundation for lifelong learning. ☞ Champion equity and inclusion: Break down barriers and ensure every child has a chance to shine. ...
