Every corner of South Carolina plays a role in our state’s economic impact, and with today’s application by the Nexus for Advanced Resilient Energy (SC Nexus) for federal Tech Hub designation, our state will now play a major role in developing our advanced energy resiliency for our state, the nation and the world. As part of the U.S. Economic Development Administration’s federal Tech Hub designation process, a region encompassing the Upstate and Midlands was identified as the geographic focus of SC Nexus for its existing synergies between higher education institutions, technical colleges, state agencies, economic development alliances, private companies and the Savannah River National Laboratory. It’s notable that this region encompasses over 60% of South Carolina’s counties that are federally categorized as distressed. The economic impact of SC Nexus’ advanced energy innovations will have short-term influence on our state and local communities, but the consortium’s long-term vision is to become a global leader — launching world-renowned technologies right here in South Carolina. While a significant event, today’s Tech Hub application is just the beginning of ensuring South Carolina’s long-term competitiveness and sustainable growth.
South Carolina consortium announces application to the U.S. Economic Development Administration seeking designation as a Regional Technology and Innovation Hub. Led by S.C. Commerce with the support of over 35 members, the consortium will form The Nexus for Advanced Resilient Energy (SC Nexus), creating a global hub for innovation and technology to drive resilient, sustainable energy. Research from Rebecca Roberts on Gen Z News Media Habits out today. There is a breadth of research out there on youth media habits and this research draws on that, what industry voices think as well as (of course!) what youth audiences think about news media.
New research by Rebecca Roberts, founder of Thread & Fable, shows that traditional news outlets seeking to engage younger audiences must embrace innovation or risk declining relevance. The research was funded by the CIPR's Research Fund which is now open for applications. Download the report and find out more about the CIPR's Research Fund: https://lnkd.in/eeXVYdFp

Founder of Thread & Fable, Marketing, Communications & Campaigns consultancy specialising in youth audiences. Marketing, communications and PR consultant, podcaster and public speaker.
My research on Gen Z news habits is out today!! Huge thanks to the Chartered Institute of Public Relations for their support, to Ben Verinder for his guidance, to Sophia Smith Galer Josh Akapo Jay Richards Amy Davies, MDes. for their commentary and to Ndubuisi Uchea and Word on the Curb for helping me survey a youth audience to get their take on news. If you work in PR & Communications this research will give you; 💡 An idea of how much the social-first journey has shifted the news journey for Gen Z audiences. 📰 How news is being redefined by Gen Z and why news brands need to adapt if they want to stay relevant. 🤝 That trust and partnership is needed more than ever - against a backdrop of misinformation, disinformation and online safety. 🗣 Why speaking with and listening to youth audiences can help and a reminder that Gen Z (like any age demographic) don't all want and need the same things from news content! https://lnkd.in/eg3MAWZR
