🔌Charging Up the Future as the Swedish authorities are speeding up the process of handling applications: OX2's Triton Wind Farm Gains Green Light with Natura 2000 Permit!⚡
Situated about 50 km west of Bornholm and 23 kilometers south off the Skåne coast, the Triton wind farm boasts a robust installed capacity of up to 1.5 GW. The anticipated annual electricity generation is an impressive 7 TWh, which translates to about half of Skåne's electricity consumption.
With the County Administrative Board's recent endorsement, Triton has moved closer to receiving the government's final approval under the Act on Sweden's Exclusive Economic Zone. If given the green light, construction could commence by 2027, with production starting before 2030.
With a determined focus on expediting construction, the company has concurrently initiated a grid connection concession application and secured agreements with major suppliers. In light of a three-year construction timeline, Triton holds the potential to deliver electricity before 2030.
Triton is part of OX2's trilogy of projects developed alongside Ingka Investments in Sweden. Another project, Galene, on the Swedish west coast, recently garnered government approval. Meanwhile, Aurora, located between Gotland and Öland islands, is in the preparation stages under the Gotland County Administrative Board's supervision.
I am following the development and the speeded-up process with great interest, both on a personal level, as I am cheering for all positive changes within renewable energy, and of course, at a professional level, as this project is very well positioned to make use of the infrastructure of the Port of Roenne as a preassembly and installation port, just as it has been for Kriegers Flak, Arcadis Ost, and later this year for Baltic Eagle, all projects further away than Triton.
The journey towards renewable energy is not just about power generation; it's a commitment to a greener, more harmonious planet.
