For ag-tech to contribute meaningfully to sustainable agriculture, good ideas and technologies must commercialize and scale. Canada has a robust network of incubators/accelerators and funding to support companies as they move from pilot through to commercialization. The country is highly ranked (15th) on the Global Innovation Index —a measure of capacity and success in innovation, and spending on research and development in higher education is relatively high among OECD countries. However, many companies struggle to cross the threshold from start-up to commercial viability. 🔎 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱𝟰𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁? 🚜 The vocational training sector across Europe suffers from weaknesses and a lack of innovation. The widespread adoption of new farming techniques in Europe, such as regenerative agriculture and smart farming, calls for new transnational approaches to skills development aimed to define emerging professional profiles and make the food chain more sustainable.   💪🏻 The AgriFood4Future project aims to strengthen training and skills in these areas.   🫱🏻🫲🏻 This will involve a number of activities, including the creation of CoVES networks (Centers of Vocational Excellence in Smart Farming and Sustainable Food Systems).
