Awesome mahi from the Regional Energy Transition Accelerator (RETA) team at EECA on a just released RETA map tool. This interactive map shows important demand - and supply-side energy infrastructure with a regional focus. Key information visualised on the map includes regional energy consumption (including large process heat users), substation and transmission lines, areas of future grid demand, renewable energy potential, energy storage facilities, forests, and major wood processes. https://lnkd.in/erWTfUiQ This map is intended to help individuals and businesses understand their unique region-specific needs, opportunities, and barriers when looking to electrify or switch to cleaner fuels.

Urgent! Survey deadline Wednesday! 🌿 Exploring the Potential for Levelled Kelp Farming within Offshore Renewable Energy Parks. If you have 6-8 minutes let me know what you think: https://lnkd.in/ePeR6Hs7 I have been receiving some incredible input from many of you. These next couple of days are a great occasion to share your thoughts on the potential opportunities or drawbacks of implementing this project. Depending on the results of this survey I hope to carry this project into my masters. Reminder: The aim is to understand whether it could be feasible to integrate kelp (for carbon sequestration and ecosystem regeneration) into offshore renewable energy parks for efficient use of available space and energy. A project such as this would seek to tackle the issues of food security, energy security (kelp for biofuel) and mitigating the impacts of climate change on marine ecosystems, as well as the impacts of overfishing and pollution. I included a link to my survey, I greatly appreciate any input you can contribute towards this research. The survey is anonymous and please do not feel your knowledge of the subject is inadequate, all in-depth questions are optional. Thank you! #windenergy #seaweed #kelp #offshorewind #climatechange #climateaction

Sustainable Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) Join us Tuesday for the first lunch #webinar at #BergenEnergyLab this autumn! Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) are energy intensive compared to other aquaculture practices. Inherent water treatment units in RAS reduce its environmental impact, but the greater energy demand can increase its carbon footprint. Two actions to mitigate RAS related emissions are operating the RAS in a more energy efficient way and ensuring renewable energy is prioritized to supply the RAS. An alternative RAS operation mode supported by simulations in a numerical model in Matlab coupled with Aspen HYSYS is proposed to reduce energy demand for a case study. To supply RAS in remote locations favourable for aquaculture in Norway, the cost efficiency of an autonomous hybrid renewable energy system with energy storage needs to be studied. Wind, solar, and wave energy is harvested, and energy is stored in batteries and as hydrogen to balance the grid and prevent energy shortage. The presentation is given by Gerard Ayuso Virgili is a PhD-fellow at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences. In this talk, he will present findings from his ongoing PhD-project on optimization of renewable energy supply for RAS. #akvakultur #aquaculture #oppdrett #ras #salmon #research #marine #seafood #renewable #PhD Øyvind Fiksen - Amund Maage - Reidar Handegård - Hege Guldbrandsen Frøysa - Kristine Spildo - Norbert Lümmen - Richard J Grant https://lnkd.in/eXi7NWxX

Chief Innovation Officer at METK | EU-Farmbook Ambassador | Experienced networker skilled in building meaningful professional connections across diverse Agrifood and Rural sectors
RENALDO - Rural development through renewable energy sources in Poland. The primary aim of the innovative project was to devise strategies to support rural communities in establishing energy cooperatives while fostering an enabling regulatory and policy environment across two provinces of Poland. Developed "RENALDO's" online calculator was designed to model energy cooperative scenarios efficiently. It calculates various energy mix scenarios to balance production and consumption, taking into account hourly data projections for different renewable sources such as PV, wind, and biogas. Users can easily modify different parameters to generate results promptly for review and discussion. Importantly, the calculator measures benefits for the energy cooperative as a whole, rather than for individual participants. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of cooperative members determining the algorithm for reconciling supply and demand in alignment with prevailing tax and energy market legislation. #renewableenergy #ruraldevelopment #networktoinnovate #eip #innovation #capnetwork #energy More information about that EIP project example can be found here ➡ https://lnkd.in/dW9p6R8z Join us in attending our Network to Innovate events, where we explore numerous thematic topics and present fresh, innovative solutions created specifically for the Agri-food and Forestry sectors ➡ https://lnkd.in/dQiXZC7K

Uruguay’s energy ministry has just released its comprehensive 2040 green hydrogen roadmap. Officials project that by 2040, a hydrogen and derivatives industry could bring in a staggering U$1.9 billion in annual revenue and create over 30,000 quality jobs. To ensure the sustainability of hydrogen production and generation projects, they are undergoing an environmental impact review process overseen by the environment ministry. Ongoing efforts, such as the development of a hydrogen project evaluation guide, are in progress. Additionally, collaborative initiatives involving multiple stakeholders are being pursued, focusing on areas like skills training. #energy #renewables #engineering #sustainability
