🚨The deadline to submit your ECMWF Special Projects application closes on 30 June! 🚨 What is it? Special Projects at ECMWF are “experiments or investigations of a scientific or technical nature, likely to be of interest to the general scientific community”, with a duration of up to three years. Once accepted, you will be able to run your Special Project using ECMWF’s HPC resources.  🆕From this year on, Special Projects also have access to the operational European Weather Cloud service. Who can apply? Projects are undertaken in co-operation between several institutions, nationally or internationally, for the latter one insitution must be from one of ECMWF's Member States. How to apply? 🎉 Celebrating yet another milestone in my PhD trajectory 🎉 I am pleased to share that I have successfully presented my first ever conference paper at the 2024 European Conference on Computing in Construction organised by the European Council on Computing in Construction just a week ago! My work reflects the studies conducted in collaboration with Demo-BLog, proposing a new framework to map the stakeholders of #DigitalBuildingLogbooks. Key takeaways include: 1. A DBL stakeholder can be either a data user, a data provider, or both. 2. A larger involvement of stakeholders (across AND beyond the AECO sectors!!) is needed to achieve improved data collection and sharing. 3. Identifying the stakeholders engaged with the building across its lifecycle is therefore fundamental to identify their relevance to and roles in the DBL. The conference was a great moment for me to expand my understanding on the importance of building data in the AECO sectors and how it can be used by different stakeholders to address (very) different goals. This is a world without open infrastructures. Despite providing essential support for Open Science and serving the public good, open infrastructures face challenges that make long-term planning and development uncertain, even day-to-day operations in some cases. There is a way forward, which involves a shift in priorities and practices with regard to open infrastructure. Working closely with various global open infrastructures, SCOSS: https://scoss.org/ has a unique perspective. SCOSS evaluates open infrastructures that require funding and recommends them to potential supporters.
