Greetings from Zaanse Schans. I have been in Amsterdam this week, in discussions around decarbonization that have been both intense and engaging. As I reflect on where the world is today, even the United States, relative to Europe, am struck by both the progress we've made and the urgency that lies ahead. It's clear that in order to drive #sustainabletransformation, the industry must come together. The challenges we face are formidable. From technological advancements and infrastructure development to regulatory hurdles and funding, the road ahead is complex. It requires collaboration across sectors, countries, and communities. #Decarbonization thought leaders, engineers, solution leaders, policymakers, environmentalists, and community advocates must find common ground and work cohesively to drive change. This means prioritizing open dialogue, sharing best practices, and fostering partnerships that span borders and disciplines. Only by pooling our resources and expertise can we hope to accelerate the transition to renewable energy. The urgency of our collective mission cannot be overstated. Climate change is not waiting for us to catch up; it is unfolding before our eyes. Decarbonization is the defining challenge of our time. As global temperatures continue to rise, we have the #privilege and #responsibility to tackle one of humanity's most pressing issues. Together, we can create #impactfulsolutions that drive meaningful change for a #sustainablefuture. As I look to the future, and especially as I stand amidst these gorgeous windmills, I am filled with hope. The innovations emerging from the renewable energy sector are remarkable, and the passion driving this movement is palpable. But hope alone is not enough. The 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (#CET) process in 𝟲 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 will be accelerated through the 𝗟𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗚𝗼𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗡 project. By replacing fossil fuels, we're not just reducing carbon emissions; we're changing the way energy is produced and consumed, paving the way for a cleaner, more sustainable future. 🚢 Capturing Carbon at Sea: A Maritime Revolution But our commitment to sustainability extends beyond land and into the vast oceans. As part of our mission to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, we're designing state-of-the-art carbon capture systems for ships. These systems represent a crucial step towards decarbonizing the maritime industry, which accounts for a significant portion of global emissions. #OnboardCarbonCaptureandStorage technology is a promising solution that can immediately enable marine #decarbonisation for both existing and new-build #vessels. While the development and scaling up of future green fuels is ongoing, OCCS can provide ship owners with an opportunity to achieve their short to mid-term #emissionsreduction targets as per IMO resolutions adopted in the “2023 IMO Strategy on Reduction of GHG Emissions from Ships”, which includes goals such as achieving net-zero GHG emissions by or around 2050. 📣Webinar recap!    💡 How is progress being monitored in the just transition regions?    #JUSTEM, together with SITRANS and #RePowerTheRegions hosted the session, ‘Keeping an eye on the transition- are we monitoring our progress?’ The session, which was part of the #EUSEW Sustainable Energy Days, presented the different approaches that each  project is working on to monitor the progress of the just transition process in their regions. Speakers discussed the experiences so far on monitoring progress and the main challenges they faced, as well as the solutions being developed. The session concluded with 4 recommendations for a more effective monitoring process.
